Is an RNG game without bad luck protection unfair ?
Just a quick question for all you guys/gals out there :

Do you think a game that heavily relies on RNG (such as this one with decos) is "unfair" without any bad luck protection system ?

Im just curious as to what you guys think , i haven't even really tinkered with jewels yet so ..... :)

Some people like harsh RNG systems in which only SOME people are rewarded with the best items. It makes the items actually rewarding to possess. You can hate it, but at the end of the day it's the item system long time gamers really want.

Correction on that, some ppl like to be the only ones who posses these items or believe theyll be the ones.
You would be surprised how quickly these ppl complain when they are left behind by rng.
Well it can be really unfairly bad luck, i got 250h in the game and im yet to get a second attack jewel or tbh any interesting decoration thats not freakin medicine, sature, pip, tip toe, brace... Even in the crappy meld system melding 10 braces and get 3 back...

It's not that it's unfair, it's just annoying. You don't actually truly need all these minmaxed builds to get through tempered elder dragons at all, they just make them slightly easier and give you some freedom to come up with your own builds.
Even if G rank gets released they still won't be necessary. It all comes down to the system just being a bit more frustrating than it should be, and what MH4U did for charm farming was better than decoration farming in MHW.
Charm farming better? Oh boy. XD
Charms were a lot more random, and some of them were really broken back then. Deco system it's annoying, but it's better than mining in special quests to see if one of the thousand possible charms appears in front of you.

Some of the decos are really common and usefull like "elementless", some are most rare like critical boost, and others like attack are extremly rare, but, attack is overhyped, and you only really need 2-3 attack gems to min max.

When you get a gem, you can use it for every weapon, but charms? Oh boy, if you wanted that special charm for every different weapon you would died before achieving that.

But the best of this system, it's that you KILL MONSTERS, to get decos.

I personallly love the rng as long it's no rng for paid stuff.
Tbh charms were easier.
1)you only had to get one
2)even if it wasnt the best you still had something whereas here if you dont get good jewel you are stuck without that particular skill

Only one? That's true if you only play with one weapon, and not always, because elemental weapons usually used more than one charm to get the different elemental attacks.

You slotted those in. Most important was 3 slots and half decent skill, at least in tri.

Games like BDO and AA had terrible RNG systems with no real failsafe. (fake ones sure, but those sucked)

And you needed to upgrade your gear to progress, it was a requirement. So you would waste dozens of hours just trying to get your gear where it was before you failed your last attempted upgrade.

There is no downgrading here. So all is well. And as others have said, its totally optional.
Its not something you dont see in these forums... There's numereous topics complainign about RNG and these are usually the people that havnt played any MH whatsoever.... lol
Get ready for Kulve Taroth, do you have a real live? Then, good luck getting the weapon you want... because you are ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Hell no. If everything was super easy to get, there would be no reward for accomplishing it.

It's like buying a maxed out account on WoW. Yeah. congrats, you have the best stuff in the game, but you didn't make that journey to create that character. Or if you changed the encounter rate of shinys in pokemon to 50% of the time.

Same with low-chance rolls. There isn't much of a sensation of a reward, when you'll eventually get everything without any effort or focus on it..

I don't think Monster Hunter World is that grindy/farmy, The RNG is extremely minimal and very very kind.

Imo pseudo chance should be the way of it for the rarest things. Like in Dota 2, if sth promise you 25% chance to stun, you will get it once in about 4 hits. It can be 3 hits to activate, can be 5 hits. The actual chance will be altered on the fly to ensure such. 2 stun in a row is highly unlikely, so does 6 hits without a stun.

Without pseudo, 25% chance can be 1 activation in 10 hits. or 3 in a row. Too random and not representative of the chance you set.
the bad luck protection is called save game editor

worst slot machine monster isn't released right now, kulve taroth
i wish you had a limited loottable for every monster, specific decoration related to the skills of the armor of that monster

or an option to destroy armor to get their decorations with slightly increased dropchance.

it would also prefer to have an option to upgrade normal weapons to kulve taroth version through crafting materials, but asians like this rng grinding crap

It is pretty sad that so much unused stuff fills your itembox over time, a few things can be used for the elder smelter to get more drugs but what is about the rest of it?

That's called Gambler's Fallecy or a selective bias.

Incremental buffs to getting a drop/buff are decent ideas, But it shouldn't be sold as "25% chance!" to proc. That's just not representative of the chance you get..
