Yeah, what you are seeing with them is just bold numbers due to the hitting of weakpoints.
Slicing won't always do so. While it is extremely forgiving as far as how hits track from shot point toward weakpoint, if your far enough away from ANY, and hit armored area, it will give the smaller damage numbers.
Sticky and Cluster, due to thier explosive nature (you also notice this with the blast after effect) always act as if they hit weakpoint.
