best defender weapon for clearing the game?

It was Hammer for me and still is mainly. I have 400+ hunts with it. I also have 250+ hunts Gunlance and I swear, I barely remember using GL that much.

dont use defender gear, that's like setting the difficulty at easy mode. Unless you really want to speed trough the game straight into Iceborne.

It's only for people who knows what they're doing. If you're playing MH for the first time in this game, avoid these wpns like plague. They're too powerful. You won't learn much and the armor give you the impression that you can tank through most of the monsters when you can actually get 2-shot or 1-shot.

As for what's most powerful, all of them are about on par with each other but LBGs is the one that stood at the top of the meta when it comes to raw LBG and Normal 2 rapid fire build. Defender bows and DB aren't that good because their class' strength come from elemental. Not sure about the rest.

not new to MHW, i cleared the game like a year ago. just new to it on PC. trying to get to iceborn asap

All of those defender weapons are mediocre as soon as you get into Iceborne. No real reason to worry about it, just get in there with whatever you’re comfortable with and start wrecking ♥♥♥♥.

they all have identical base raw and sharpness stats, but the bow is bad. the hbg is for pierce, the lbg is for normal 2s. you'd still want other bowguns for other ammos

regardless defender weapons are cringe and you shouldn't really be using them

For me, dual blades, since you won't need to worry about getting hit in this case, you can just spam blade dance and blender the ship out of them
