Monster Hunter: World

Monster Hunter: World

Should i complete the main story before considering multiplayer?
Even though i wanted to play multiplayer from the get go, i have thoroughly enjoyed playing through the "story" solo. Should i finish the story and reach high levels and understand most of the basics before playing with other people?

Either way works :)

I played solo all the way through the end of icebornes story, furious rajang, and raging brachy (you'll get there)

It's tough at times, but you learn to be self reliant, however I started doing multiplayer, and it's a lot more fun (most of the time, every once in awhile you get "to that guy" or your embarrassed, cause you make a dumb mistake and become "that guy" ;D)

I'd say try it out, and see how you feel :) there really is no right or wrong way to do it, so play however you enjoy it most, solo or grouped :)
Also, you can learn a lot on your own, but you can also learn neat tricks from playing with other people :)
It's a good way to learn the fights. Plus solo the monsters have way lower health and values to trip them and such, so in a way it's easier than MP.

I think it's fairly rare to get co-op anyway doing story mode, people rarely join SOS for Assigned Quests. Unless you have a friend running through it with you.
Solo helps you learn the game better. And once you are on the right side of the bell curve in terms of skill/gear MP will be harder as you will have to carry the others.
nah, but maybe perhaps, if you're new to fighting the monster, it is a good way to learn how to fight each monster.

but hunting with randos is fun too, either way it doesnt matter too much.
you can try and see if you still find someone playing lr or hr
less and less people keep playing
maybe the sale pumps a little bit fresh blood into the community, so you aren't that lonely while progressing

iam normally only finishing my weeklies and waiting badly for the alatreon dlc as many others doing too

I found the best way to ease myself into multiplayer was by either joining or sending out an SOS for whatever monster I need tons of parts for. This way you’ll be fairly competent and confident at fighting the monster whilst exploring out the new stuff with multiplayer.
I personally prefer'd soloing the story then doing multiplayer.
You can solo all the way still iceborne end game if you like.

main quest <-- always solo
option quest <-- try solo and clear
investigation <-- solo/multiplayer
event <-- solo/multiplayer
special assignment <-- try solo and clear
It depends... Nowadays if SOS people like me are bored we would just run in and clean up whatever mess we want. if you want the actual experience, make sure to join a lobby with similar level players and don't fire the flare.

The flare is typically used to get people without suffering through annoying matchmaking, but when content is dried up, the flare goes back to what it really is, a panic button help me do this before I quit the game and leave a salty negative review.
just one question, how does multiplayer work in this game? is the online session you join the people that you only play with, do hunter ranks matter a lot?
Your call. Multiplayer is a lot more casual than you're probably realizing, but it always helps to know what you're doing so you can pick up any potential slack.

You can join a session max 16 ppl gathering, example for safi jiva or for arena
or join a SOS game directly

Every quest has level e.g. MR1 to MR6 stars. You can't join SOS higher than yours stars level.

That is what I would recommend. Mastering monsters on your own is much better than getting carried through. I'm not saying you're there to be carried but most players in the community are already at max level with meta sets so you will unavoidably be carried by someone.

I always try to solo first.
For me I'd recommend solo, it may be hard but it will feel rewarding. Especially if you defeat Rathalos and Diablos solo. Although I didn't solo all the story, it was still fun, it always depend on the person that is playing the game.
