Best Weapon?

I just started to play this game and i love it ! But I have a question, what is the best weapon in the game? I use Dual Blades (Defender Chainsaws IV). Do i need to switch to somethng better or Dual Blades are ok?

All weapons are viable. It depends on which one you prefer.

Personally I prefer Hunting Horn, so I think that weapon is the best.

play what you find fun, don't worry about "best weapon". This is a PvE game, it's not gonna give you an edge.

there is no "best weapon class" really. if by best you mean which kills stuff the quickest the answer is always HBG sadly. but thankfully all weapons are useable. some are just worse againist certain monsters than others. thats about it. you can beat ALL monsters with all weapons tough. some just struggle super hard with certain matchups.

There is actually one best weapon without a doubt, and that is the weapon that works best for you. If you like dual blades, then that is the best weapon for you, although I would recommend if you try other weapons, since they all play differently and make this game so amazing.

A great way to test for a new weapon would be to go to the practice area on your house and choose one and practice its move set, once that is done go and hunt a great jaggras and see if you can beat it. Then you can see which weapons work for you. Since some monster are really hard with certain weapons and having options is great.

You should try them all at least a little, if possible. It's really a matter of preference, so I believe you'll be able to make a better choice the more you know about them.

Some people main only one weapon. Others like to use specific weapons against certain wyvern types. It all depends more on playstyle.

There is however a notion of "best weapon" if you seek to achieve the fastest clear time for a hunt.

Note that these results are achieved through a lot of practice and optimization by world-class players.

The difference from best to worst weapon for a beginner player is going to be much smaller, and as mentioned earlier, it's better to choose a weapon that best fits your style of play, and that you enjoy. Enjoying a weapon is key to mastering it. So try them out !

The best weapon is up to you.
The strongest weapon is the heavy bow gun, it has best defense and hits harder than everything else by far, it's also extremely simple to play.

Learn the mechanics of a hunt like traps, stuns, knockdowns, tenderize, flinch shots, and mounts. Your hunts become eaiser and allow you to utilize the best combos of whatever weapon you're using. You rely on those mechanics to maintain high damage.

Dual Blades are very good, but creating DB builds is more troublesome than other raw based weapons. Their true potential come from elemental damage, so you need to create every elemental dual blades according to monsters. Also, Elemental damage is normally not affected by affinity unless you have crit element or true crit element. But of course you can play whatever you want. These are just some recommendations, if you want to make max damage. If you ask me the best weapon, I can say spread HBGs. They are just broken. But it is hard to make builds at the beginning of the game and I can't say they are most fun to use.

As far as most played weapon, it's longsword, doesn't make it the best, but it must be fun if so many use it :D

(Haven't used it in a hunt yet myself though)
