How important is Critical Element for elemental builds?
I'm getting bored of using swaxes, so I was thinking about maybe trying dual blades or something. The only thing I'm curious about is if it's even worth bothering to try and go for crit element. Having to account for two pieces of Rath armor seems restrictive and seriously limits fashion choices.

If it is worth it, could someone recommend me an armor set up or something to go by? Also what are some other skills I should be trying to implement if I'm doing DBs.

You can also use pieces of the USJ st. It also gives the rathalos 2 piece bonus.

Personally, I use 3 pieces of Teo Gamma, the rathalos chest piece and the USJ waist, iirc

Bow, SnS and DB share all a 1.35x ele crit modifier so its a huge increase
LBG and HBG 1.30x
GS 1.20x
Rest at 1.25x

Btw Usefullness -> Fashion tbh
You can still unlock layered armors or use transmog if you really want to live out your fashion soul

It´s the most important part of your element build.

Critical Element is the first priority for element focused builds.

It's required if you want to do any meaningful damage. For DB you would either use the Kjarr daggers which all have innate critical element or you would run Kaiser Y head, arms, legs, rathalos b chest and azure starlord waist.

for weapons hoping to deal high elemental damage, crit element is a must since you get that 25% bonus damage to your elemental portion of your hit. its more damage, you want it!

as for planning around it Seamus has the right idea. i was lookng to get that set designed for a few kulve weapon i picked up but the day i went to do it AT Teo was gone xD. so i use something similar thats less focused on using weakness exploit, since for a lot of monsters their elemental weakspot isnt always the spot you'd be procing weakness exploit on. though typically WE still works for most things.

if you are going the element route either have crit element or dont bother and just pretend that your dual blades are elemental. ciri and diablos are there if you dont want to use rath gear and want to fashion.
once you get crit element or a kjarr dual blade your next goal is weakness exploit, elemental decos for that specific blade (it ranges how many you can use), and all the usual make dps go up skills.
