Kushala Daora
I'm behind on this game and I just unlocked Kushala's quest. Kushala is normally my MOST HATED MONSTER IN EXISTENCE. Okay maybe not my most hated, but he's up there with Najarala, Khezu, and Tigrex. (he's annoying, lol)

I know things are different in World, so...what should I expect here exactly? Is he still weak to poison? Or should I use a dragon weapon due to that new...dragon seal...thing. I imagine that wind barrier is still going to be annoying as ever.

when he flies just flash pod him and then beat him up. other than his wind aura which might give melee players some trouble hes got nothing much. hes not as aggressive and nergigante , teostra or lunastra. hes an easy elder dragon.

Aye, Flash pods are your friend, he's nasty otherwise, but ground him then curb stomp away.

So he was toned down then?....Eh, alright, he used to be the hardest for me. lol
I never really used flash bombs before or whatever they're called here, I was always terrible with them.

Does poison still work on him, or was that changed to dragon?

Hmm, I would say that he's actually more beefed up, but still pretty easy to cheese when he is non-tempered because of the flash pod spam. All mobs I've encountered before are actually more beefed up in World.

It has been some time since I've played, but I think poison still works. Don't worry too much about it, and just go with the flow. Just take plenty of flash pods and flash bugs to craft and you'll be A-Okay. Happy hunting.

I dunno, I haven't had much of a challenge in this game yet. Only times I've died/failed was when other monsters kept stalking me and ruining everything. lol

Hes incredibly fast still, his wind attacks are a ♥♥♥♥♥, and he can combo wreck you hard, as stated though the flash pods bring him to his knees quick because he flies so much and if you blind a mob in the air it ALWAYS sends them crashing back to the ground and gives you a large opening.

You can spam flashes at the non tempered Kushala, when he is flashed his wind aura shouldn't affect you for the most part, presuming he build it up. Tempered is limited to 4x or 5x flashes, while the Arch Tempered Kushala is, I believe limited to 1 flash.

Also, once you get the rocksteady mantle Kushala becomes more of a joke. Preferably you'd want to kill him straight up with a thunder bow, as that is for the most part the easiest way.

from what i remember reading is that poison doesn't stop his aura as it did in previous game, only dragon seal does. he has low resistance to poison but i heard the aliment got nerf hard since it doesn't stack any more.

kushala is toned down (no black wind or anything like that) but in exchange nothing really helps against his wind outside of the armor's set bonus or hunting horn buffs.

dragon seal will slow down the build up of his wind like it does with the other elder's aura but it doesnt prevent it so if things go wrong he could stay stuck in max aura so thats fun. poison doesnt really do anything from my experience.

flashing him out of the air or knocking him down by hitting his head will stop it. dragon pods should lower it a level if you manage to hit him with a few of them (the aura protects him at higher levels so it can be difficult)

Yeah, although the mobs have been upgraded, so are the hunters. The new weapon skills are ridiculously OPed, and as a fellow old-timer of MH, I think you shouldn't have any trouble. Same ol' monster hunting but with some serious upgrades... just have fun I guess. The challenge later would be Arch-Tempered mobs, don't need to think too much about it now.

I'm not a bow person, I've tried ranged weapons a while back and was terrible at it. I'm a Gunlance user.

Long 4 Gunlance (Zorah for example) wrecks Kushala like it's made of paper.

I want to make Zorah's stuff....IF HIS STUPID QUEST WOULD SHOW UP!...lol

Flash him if he is in the air, if you use a long range weapon, aim to his head. Use a dragonseal weapon to chip away his air shield or use the metal mantle (I forget the name) it negates wind preasure. If you don't have one, he is really weak to blast damage, also you can aim to his tail.
EDIT: Avoid his charged wind attack.

Poison ain't turn off the wind shield no mo. Elderseal is supposed to do that, but, yeah, it's a pretty rubbish mechanic and best left ignored.

Make 3 pieces of his own set when you're done with him, the set bonus negates all the wind armor and tornado nonsense. The worst part about the fight really is the final phase when he flies off to his nest, since he spams tornados everywhere up there and the fight becomes awful. Preferably you'd finish the fool off before it gets to that.
