Gunlances also make the hunt relatively effortless but take longer, especially the longs.
Hammer is also a really good solo weapon for teo.
Oh man I feel your pain on the decorations. You should still be fine without the major ones though. Legia Snowfletcher with some frost jewels, tenderizer and whatever else you can throw in worked great against tempered teostra for me.
If you get the chance, try going with a hammer. Teostra's moveset is pretty easy to work around and the ledges set you up for some consistant aerial smashes.
Then you shouldn't rely on decos to make you sets. You can build pretty sick sets without decos.
Start the fight with a temporal mantle and affinity booster. When they wear out and monster moves to new region, go back to camp and take health booster and fire mantle this time. By the time they run out and monster moves to next region, travel to nearby camp and re-equip temporal and affinity and you're back in action. I personally use an evasion mantle instead of temporal one, but hey whatever you find easier.
PS: use the Kushala Waist plus one frost jewel and Teostra arms to get Weakness Exploit and Ice Attack to level 3.
