Question on Exhaust damage type
what exactly does it do?

if i keep using Exhaust ammo on an enraged monster, is it able to stop its enraged mode early?
i dont know a lot on what that damage type does to a monster exactly.

can anyone help explain?

Exhaust ammo does do a lot of KO damage if you hit a monster in the head, to the point that you can get a pretty quick KO with no impact mantle if using rapid fire exhaust S like is found on the Odagaron light bowgun.

Like you I am not too sure how it applies, but the end result if it works is the monster going into a fatigued state. They'll drool, move slower, fall over at the end of charges and fail to fire breath attacks making them much less of a threat.

Rage mode overrides the fatigued status. A fatigued monster can enrage and no longer be fatigued, this includes if you or another player uses the claw to rage them quickly. Generally strong antisynergy with agitator. Maybe somebody else can clarify if you can fatigue a monster out of rage?

If I recall correctly exhaust damage also shortens the enrage time of monsters. Although I read somewhere that they change it in mhw and that is what dragonseal does to all monsters, in addition to the intended elder dragon use.
