I don't understand how people can main one weapon....

Not a rant thread as I don't care how people play their own games.

But I couldn't imagine playing this game with only one weapon for 100+ hunts in a row. Especially when reaching endgame.

I rotate and enjoy Lance, Gunlance, SA, DB, and Hammer.

No way am I fighting a rath with DB/hammer, nor am I fighting a super jumpy monster in multiplayer as gunlance or lance (like Barioth or doggos). Sure it can be done, but I'm a firm believer on using the right tool for the job.

Hunting Horn is next on my list to learn, perhaps after Alatreon.

Greatsword is fun to use to beat up on monsters that you know inside and out. It's tough to use on some master rank monsters that move around too much, but in the older generation of games, I used it religiously because I found that reading monsters was a game in of itself that was just too fun to put down. It's the only weapon I can safely say I enjoy using as a "main" for hundreds of hours. I haven't had the time to play World as much as I had hoped to though since I'm unwilling to put the time into grinding in the guiding lands so I dropped the game pretty early.

I use everything besides dual blades and bow. Not great at all of them though. Slowly trying to get into bow and db as well. But I mostly play cb, gl, ls, hammer, sa and gs these days too.

I've play all, but rarely HH and HBG, I still suck at them (HBG seems a bit boring as we mostly use sticky, spread, or pierce, cluster in HR but not in MR). Haven't played for a month or two now, might have to go play again

Funny cause I played swaxe exclusively throughout base game and iceborne. Only til I got to Safi did I question why I only played one weapon.

Now I'm mostly playing SnS with a bit of HH. Also fiddling with the HBG spread meta so I can brainlessly farm in the grinding lands while I watch my gf play animal crossing lol

Nothing wrong just using one weapon.

The Swax outshines DBs for flying monsters, but imho DBs are better vs Tigrex.

Pierce and cluster are very good in MR too actually. You just need to know when to use them.

Pierce hbg is amazing against MR KT.

And cluster you mainly want use in singleplayer as extra damage / ammo on your sticky builds since sticky ammo has very low damage you kinda compensate with wyvern and cluster ammo.

Those people usually main one weapon and rarely or never switch. I started playing this way since I never played another MH before, and just really liked the style of CB in youtube videos

Some people: "The better you understand the game, the better choices you make." Those people switch often and have many loadouts etc. I switched to this thinking after a month or so of playing

Some people: "Everyone does this, I want to try something different." Or maybe: "What should I do today? How about this?" That's me before I stopped playing MHW because I burned out :) Now I'm still considering if I want to buy Iceborn or not, lol

Glad i mixed it up a bit and will probably try longsword in the future.

Iceborne is good. Even with the abortion claw.

When I really like a weapon, trying to play any other weapon just makes me realize how much I'd rather be playing the main weapon, so I do. I do eventually get bored, but yeah.

longsword main in GU, gunlance here. We like to be good with the weapons of choice. Most of us will swap up to keep things fresh though.

I've already used every weapon extensively to the point of knowing which weapons I don't like period, either because they're broken and boring or because I don't like an aspect of their gameplay e.g. stamina management. Since slapstick GL is dead because of claw and overtuned shelling values, I'm not using GL ever again. I'd rather play heatgauge GL than IB GL.
