Investigate ??? Rathian
I’m playing the base game and just got to this part (title) right after driving Zorus out to sea. I found some foot prints and did some high rank quests but the investigation meter barely goes up. I really hate padding/roadblocks like this in already long games, especially good ones. Is there a faster way to increase the meter?

there's stuff on youtube about it if you look it up, but to put it simply you go out on expeditions and you go to the same spots everytime and collect them and just cycle through all the areas, I think investigations fill the meter faster but I can't remember so might wanna double check that one, but yeah, look it up on youtube and you'll see all the spots the tracks are at

for me i do high rank (orange) optional quest (not arena).

if i already complete all available, i redo the one with the armour that i want. no need to collect track.

or you can do investigation (high rank).

Its a very slow step in the story, the game is basically telling you to do a bunch of quests to slowly fill up the investigation meter on monsters by picking up tracks, if you know someone who already has the monster unlocked you can get them to load up an quest for them and follow them around picking up tracks and that still counts for progress, although it would very much ruin the reveal if you care about that.

actually for ??? rath you need to get half first since when you start you are HR 11, and ??? rath is HR 12, after half you will get anjanath quest, after finished this quest, you will get HR12, then you can ask someone to spawn ??? rath, no need to collect track, the moment you saw rathian the bar is full. this also work with 3elder. optional work to spawn it

You can instantly fill the meter by joining a Pink Rathian hunt.
(Join a friend's optional quest, or go into a lobby and ask someone to open it for you.)

You can do the same with the Elder dragon tracks that appears moments after the Pink Rathian.

The elder's tracks are: Teostra, Vaal Hazark, Kushala

Also using the hunter gear and going into expeditions is helpful since it has a skill that makes it easier to fill monster track levels and investigations

Just go do some optionals in the Wildspire area where you're supposed to find tracks. You don't NEED to find tracks, just need to complete some quests to get the bar rise passively.

You can also join someone's Pink Rathian and the bar instantly fills up. It's cheating though.
