That might be a good plan. I spent a lot of my first try attempting to break its head so whenever it did its big attacks I was too close for comfort.
I'll admit, I often forget softening parts is even a thing, so I'll keep that in mind when I try again.
Or switch to braindead sticky LBG with 3 zorah armor, aim for the head and stay safe from distance. At least with it you can sever the crown easily and carve it for the tenderplates.
Get farcasters as well, he has a lot of wind up for his attacks, so if you are one hit away from dying with no escape, POP THAT SUCKA AND FLY TO THE SKIES... back to camp.
I guess one-shot isn't entirely accurate. I have Vitality +3 with Glavenus amour so I can usually take one or two attacks before I desperately need to heal, but it's getting combo'd into oblivion that carts me. I've worked stun immunity into my limited decoration slots so I should be more prepared on that front.
And good point with the Rocksteady mantle. I used to be all about those easy wall-bangs, but after monsters like Shara and Namielle nuking me from full health because of Rocksteady I might just ditch it for something else.
Yeah, I usually have Mirewalker on but when I went to fight Ruiner Nerg I took it off and really regretted it against Shara.
I've never actually used Farcasters so I'll have to look into those.
2. Along with timing you getting up when you have low health its better to wait to make sure when you get up that you will be safe to heal considering when you're lying on the ground you're invunarable
Shara is very weak to ice, and you should try tenderizing the head in phase 1. The faster you complete phase 1, the more you have to spare on phase 2.
Always use health boost 3 for fights you're struggling with. 50 health may not seem like much, but it WILL save you. It's one of the highest value defensive skills in the entire game.
2. Stun Res 3 to prevent those sand explosion -> stun -> death laser combos
3. Bring vigorwasp kitty for extra revive
4. Back legs are usually the safe spot, though it's really easy to snipe his head once you get his moves down
5. If you keep carting and just want an easier time with him, run Fortify
6. When he gathers his wings together to do that charged up death beam, move to his belly/hindlegs as he starts the attack, the beam pushes him back, but he won't travel enough to hit you, so you can just attack from that position
7. He's immune to sleep, but you can stun, para or poison him. I save ailments for the second phase
8. Watch the ground when Shara attacks. If there's sand in the vicinity, you'll get caught in the quakes and get hit if you're not careful
9. When he does his nova, use farcaster or hug the walls. He can follow up with his laser after, so make sure you're moving when the attack ends
Hope it helps.
Shara was my first roadblock. I'd leveled through Iceborne in my endgame HR Gunlance set, so Sharas sudden attacks hit pretty damn hard. I switched to a Crit Draw Greatsword build I had for some hit and run tactics. Tried SoS, but those joining several times were as bad as I was at the time. Went at it solo with what I'd learned and finally beat it by focusing on the back legs and weakening whenever needed.
Also, the tail is hardly ever part of an attack, unless it charges, so you can stab into that with your switchaxe to get that explosion off :D
