Regarding your rejection of the quest, the game has much more annoying factors.
In fact, this statement is so true. I still remember the Egg mission in Monster Hunter ONE (2005). The very first encounter with Rathalos.
I used to hate these as well but with the mantle it is simple, quick and very very easy.
Meanwhile in previous games: Powderstones. Hot rocks you have to deliver that burn you while you carry them, explode if you roll or drop too far while carrying them, and you couldn't climb with them so you had to find a land route to the delivery box.
