not a clean run, got hit hard a few times, still survive with 5-15% HP,,
you dont need that much def, maybe against AT you need 1k+ or HB.
but 1k def and HB is pretty safe to compensate lack of skill. like mine
1k def isnt needed but helpful. 1111 defense is MAX before buffs for mr btw. it wont exceed that unless you run defboost skill (dont do that plz) or use armorskins. just have both charms in inventory. they are a free boost.
In my opinion anything over 850 is enough and going over 1000 defence, while helpful is definetly not a necessity. There are other factors to consider as well such as elemental resistances and the weapon that youre using. If youre using a highly defensive weapon then you can potentially keep your defence stat lower then normal since you have the option to block certain attacks.
It's certainly helpful, but dont forget to take a look at your elemental resistances as well!
AT Namielle will go right through your 1000 defence if your water and thunder resistances are low or even negative. 850 would be the bare minimum that you'll need in my opinion.
Thankfully I can guardpoint most stuff.
So no, 1k def isn't needed. Though if you have the armor spheres anyway there's no good reason not to get it.
