Eh, from what I've seen on the steam discussions, it's probably around 50/50. I personally have had very little stuttering, but there are people that claim to have serious stuttering issues when they get into combat with more than a few baddies at once. And it is strictly steam players stating this.
I would personally agree and say get the windows version. Enough have the issue that it's not really worth the risk, imo. I didn't know about that when I bought the steam version, and I'm just glad I never had any issues with it.
Story was better then world, obviously(monster hunter never has a GOOD story), but it being told in 3 different mediums, and random side story dlcs really hurt it. From just in game, it has real problems with pacing, with not much happening until chapter 6 or 7, then the game just shoves everything in your face at a crazy pace. Worst FF game in my opinion, if they didn't fragment the story so much, and fixed up all the small issues, it could have actually been great.
Neither of these things address that you will get a TON more time out of monster hunter on average then you would any given FF game either.
IMO that game isn't fun, I bought Dragon Quest XI instead and I'm having a blast with it
This presumes that OP is more of a MP gamer than a SP gamer. If you're one that doesn't enjoy MP games as much, I would say you would get more out of any of the FF games than you would MHW; except maybe the bastardization of FF that was the 13 series.
The other thing is how grindy MHW is. I think it's fair to say, that if someone is not okay grinding the same monsters over and over again for mats for hours....well, that would be a pretty big detractor. it is one of the reasons I only play casually here and there--the grind in MHW just takes too long for my tastes--I like to see progression a little faster than MHW.
Just a few things to consider when making a choice.
