How to unlock Kirin?

What are the conditions to unlock kirin/ make it spawn apart from event quests?
Playing now for ~100h with HR 29 and it never even shown up once.
Do you need a special rank or Iceborne DLC for it?
I know, most people are hating this little pony, but I'm kinda curious and wanna fight it

for low rank, you must finish all LR capture quest.
for HR, you must gather kirin tracks in a coral higlands expedition.
you unlock tempered kirin at HR 50.

also, most people do like kirin, he's just a huge pain if you use DB.

Thx for the quick response, I'll try to do all LR capture quests now.
Hopefully this will also unlock some tracks to gather in the first place (because right now, kirin is just a myth with no tracks at all)

i forgot that you can also do the double LR kirin event and the AT kirin event currently.

Honestly, I "discovered" kirin just because of the double kirin event quest, since it didn't spawn at the Coral Highlands yet. But I'll try your suggestion with the LR capture quests, hopefully this will make it also spawn during expeditions

You need to to the quest "beyond the blasting scales".
After that, you will lvl up again.
Kirin quest will be your quest from lvl 49 to 50.

this is only for tempered kirin.

LR Kirin is also missing and I guess that you could unlock it before HR 50 :)

the majority of people encountered it for the first time around hr 49 because you rank up pretty fast and it is easy to miss these lr cap quests

Yeah, missed them too, but i needed some LR materials and now HR materials for a nice thunder greatsword. I thought, that it should appear during LR expeditions, but I guess I was wrong.
