Kulve Tarroth Fight as Bow

Recently tried fighting Kulve Tarroth with a bunch of friends as a bow user, but I have no idea where I am supposed to aiming for as a bow user.

My build is an elemental crit build, silver rathalos set + legianna bow (second phase) / vaal velos (first phase) with the respective elemental attack increase charms. Normally, I do around 35-45 damage per arrow.

Against Kulve, even shooting her chestpiece (the only weakspot afaik) seems to do a max of 30 damage per arrow, usually around 25. Shooting everywhere else seemed to be ineffective and not a critical zone, so I'm at a bit of a loss where to aim for,

AFAIK, bow is also weak against kulve, same as safi.

I'm not saying that bow is awful all around, I'm just saying that it has a poor matchup against Kulve and Safi. Some weapons just simply have bad matchups, while others have downright amazing matchups. For example, hammer is extremely good against Kirin, but dual blades struggle. In cases like these, I recommend temporarily grabbing a different weapon.

This video helped me out a bit, shows the weak spot is the chest, so definitely doable with bow, just have to play with minimal mistakes.

Bow is just awful against kulve and safi if you’re inexperienced. For those who don’t bother learning how to play bow against kulve or Safi, using bowguns is a solution, and they usually perform way better no matter what you use (sticky, elemental etc.)

well, her weakest point on her body to shot is the crystal in her chest. that said, lots of other things hit plenty harder. by no means should this deter you from using bow, but jsut know there is really only 1 sweet spot. if you get a big flinch and her head isnt moving, spiky ball dropper is a good idea since you cannot get the crystal on some of em.

if you cant hit for damage, try procing status, bring blast coatings, poison coatings, etc. it'll help in little ways atleast and keep you up to par with the others. on a casual run it'll feel slow and every mistake in your aim will make it take longer sure, but if you enjoy bow go for it, become a master!
