Does anyone else leave their Palico behind?
On my solo hunts I started going catless and I'm having so much more fun. No more getting stunned and watching my Palico blankly stare at me or hit the air in an attempt to get me out of it. No more getting auto-healed by vigorwasp when I'm only missing 20 percent of my health or I'm already drinking a potion. No more getting ♥♥♥♥ed by random monster charges that normally wouldn't happen based on my positioning.

But also, no more free DPS/traps or getting bailed out of mistakes I would've and should've carted for. It's easier and harder at the same time, but ultimately less frustrating. Anyone else feel this way?

I always use my cat with plunderblade. Nothing beats more loot. It seems like with this gadget he doesn't draw as much aggro as the others. Haven't used other gadgets for a long time.

Nah I like having my cat around.
He's useful most of the time, and when he isn't it's very amusing watching him get blown up and smacked around XD

I only ever considered it with Fatalis, since cone baiting is much harder with how aggressive the cats are.

Your cat doesn't help you while you're stunned because they're programmed to only do that stuff ~50% of the time. I thought that was a frustrating design decision, so I installed a "better palico AI" mod that makes it 100%. Using signal also makes it stop what it's doing and come to you, which almost always results in hitting you out of sleep or stun.

I've found the shield trinket is underrated and takes a lot of pressure off you as well, leading to smoother hunts. I finished the entire game without it, mostly using plunder-blade, but now it's welcome. If that's not for you, just use plunderblade, it just seems to stack a lot of flinch which is helpful. In general every sleep or paralyze I'm happily reminded my cat has got my back.
So in summary nah, I love my cat.

I would like to ask how its possible to leave a Calico behind? Can you station it at your camp or is this a setting?
Interact with them at camp or at Astera and you should have an option to put them on standby, during missions at camp it should be the ONLY option you have when you interact with them
Thats great! Thank you so much for these informations!

I did it a few times, it's way better to speedrun a monster since you have the monster indisputed attention. But I do love the little fellas so much I bring them around as much as possible.

EDIT: Also - Holy Necro.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
