How much do I need to worry about taking dragon damage?
Whenever I start working on a set, i stop to think about dragon resist. I've been assuming monsters physical and range attack deals dragon attack. I'm starting to think that's wrong and the only monster that deals dragon blight is Jiva?

dragonblight is a fairly underused status.

there are 3 additional monsters(that I can think of) that actually use dragon damage. dragon is just another element like lightning or ice or fire. there are monsters that can give you fireblight and there are monsters that can give you dragonblight. unless you are fighting a monster that does dragon damage, you do not need dragon resist. granted some monsters like jiva can give you dragonblight AND fireblight but monsters that do that are usually the exception and not the norm.

Yep, that's wrong OP. All monsters Pigeon mentioned deal dragonblight. It's not really something to worry about though if you're running a weapon with no element/ailment. If you are, just bring nullberries and a dragonproof mantle.

Doesnt it increase the damage you take from those elemental attacks?

actualy IIRC it was datamined that while xeno attacks inflict dragonblight for damage purpose they inflict purely physical damage and there is no dragon damage component what so ever
don't know if this is the same for safi

If your armor has negative dragon resist, then yeah, you take increased damage from dragon attacks. But if it's like -5 or something, then I wouldn't worry about it.

both have a huge physical part (60-110) and a small ammount of dragon (like 20) in the attacks who can inflinct blight so its basicly a joke

the fire part of some of their attacks is over 50~

not much, just eat a nullberry if it bothers you.

it bothers you heavily if you use element/status based weapons as it supresses your element/status.

Not very much. I've never had to bother ever building for Dragon resistance or bringing the Dragonproof Mantle out of storage. In almost all cases, simple eating Veggie Platter for Elemental Resistance (L) is more than enough to suffice for the few monsters that are threatening with it.

And about the only monster that is a threat with it is Styigian Zinogre and Savage Deviljho. Ebony Odogaron would probably be if he could actually hit anything with his spasms he calls attacks, lol.

The only resistance worth worrying about is fire with a lance because you can't roll.
Everything else can be solved with a mantle.
