iirc all meta builds are for endgame so you probably wont be getting any meta's till you finish the story

Almost all the meta includes endgame stuff, so its best if you just focus on what you prefer/can get instead.
What to answer.. you do what you want. One way will guide you faster to the end, but will have a decreased life time in term of discovery of content. You have time ? Dat yz ze queshun.

You should never hold yourself directly to the meta. Do you own thing, its more fun.

Fine tune your builds once you've run out of things to do and want to focus on making a damage set (and once you have some decorations to actually make that happen). Until then, just do whatever you want.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Agreed with above. Can confirm most Meta builders have cost me more than a few vouchers from carting too often. Go for broke, do your own thing.

Ok Thanks guys!
Have fun discovering the game and its mechanics and things you’ll be comfortable with. It’s not necessary to follow the meta entirely.

In early to mid game, only look at meta builds as basic guides to what armour combinations will probably net you faster clear times (because they generally have the most economical skill / slot ratio directly from the armour pieces).

Don't be afraid to break the mould, there are some seriously underrated armour pieces in the crafting list that aren't meta, but kick ass if you're not able to slot good jewels yet.

the meta builds all mostly use safi armor for the set bonus but i freaking hate it because i feel like i die so much becuase of damaging myself constantly, especially with hard monsters like furious rajang or raging brachy... do you think not using safi armor is worth the damage loss?

Meta builds are only for speed running. But right now its quite easy to max out critical eye or other crit boosting stats on any wepons. Or max out elemental damage on dual baldes or SNS or max out Artillery on Gunlance. So in esence it takes little efort to make orignal builds that are still somwhat close to the meta.
Basicly attack boost is no longer as good as pure crit chance(afinity) as the base numbers are so much hier than in the base game that maxing out atack boost means almost nothing.

I'd say yes, surviving to the end with some of the harder monsters trumps constant HP loss and a little extra damage.

Your question kinda doesn't make sense because most of the meta is endgame stuff.

Meta sets are for endgame so unless you're using cheats to buy decos there's no way you'll have the required decos for the meta.

Also the hate against meta is just sad.
