PSA : Do the whetfish event quest!

It's another extremely fast and easy to complete quest like floral frostbite, but this time with even better rewards.
The quest always has 2 great whetfish, and always gives two whetfish fin+ in the rewards. Whetfish fin+ are extremely good, as they sharpen your weapon to full on only one cycle, and barely get used up. This is very useful for builds that can't run master's touch (True crit element) and have to settle for protective polish, as it lets them manage sharpness extremely easily.

Also, the DBs look funny.


P.S :
Use a safi weapon to get both the kirin Great Luck set bonus and the full bloom set bonus.
Ghille mantle should be used if you want to just use a capture net on the second whetfish near camp 1. There will always be a great whetfish in the pond by the central camp and the one by camp 1.

yeah it is nice for whetfish fins + but it isn't as fast as flora
The first whetfish is easy but the spawn of the second one is pretty random
it can take up to 10 mins or longer or did i missed a fishing spot?

iam always checking camp 6 and the area at camp1 on the way to the swamp

There are also some fish in the muddy water on the way to jyura nest but it is normally only arowana

I wonder if we will also get some wiggler db in the future for the complete wiggler set

It seems like if the host catches the Great Whetfish that’s always in Camp 6 pond and you join after; the Great Whetfish won’t be there for you.
If you join before he catches the Great Whetfish then it’s there and you catch it right away and finish the quest.

At least in my experience.

i'm p sure the silver rathalos set has godawful slots, which is why it is a little bit of a big deal

There is a guaranteed spawn in those waters by camp 1. Just use the ghille mantle and get close.

Math wise, the Whetfish DBs are only weaker than safi by a hair (some absurdly small number difference). So, theyre a great alternative to Safi water DBs. Plus, ha ha funi fish

Yeah, but I would expect them to be worse than safi since there's way more effort required to acquire and fully awaken Safi DBs than doing a fishing quest twice.

They're almost there, but not quite. I think the fashion makes em better tho.

that's only if you can do both. Whetfish DB aren't meta, but they are still superior to meta because more fun.
