Can't use Y+B attack consistently
I'm not experienced playing with a gamepad, so probably that's the reason, but the game constantly keeps registering just the B command instead of Y+B.
I'm playing SnS and I like to start my combos with unsheathing "Advancing slash", but every time there's something lying on the ground, my character just picks up it instead. Even worse, I had started carving a tail or a small monster that happened to be in the way of my attack mid-fight a few times. Wasted a ridiculous amount of opportunities when moster was lying on the ground becouse of that.
Any advice on this problem?

there are 3 ways to pull out a weapon when on the ground, Stand still press Y, you just draw the weapon with no attack, while moving press Y, you'll do an attack(SnS does advancing slash so no need to Y+B), or use RT you use what ever is normally there. For SnS that draw the sword while blocking. the Y+B for advancing is to do that attack while the sword is already out.

Oh and also while I'm at it, got a 2nd question.
Is there a way to unsheathe the weapon without using the Y attack? I just can't start combos with B when weapon is sheathed.

You can guard to unsheathe.

okey i want to know first, is there a command for Y+B on sns or not because i rarely use it, secondly, the type of gamepad you use. and lastly you 2nd question, i recall only able to use Y or rb. In you case it's the guard button.

You can press the right trigger to guard then hit y for a quick hit. You can also guard then roll right after and hit your left trigger to do the clutch claw uppercut for a free tenderize.

there is, like i said its the Advancing slash. quite useful when you get a knockdown that moves the monster away from you.

When your weapon is drawn Y+B does Advancing Slash, as with hitting Y while running when sheathed.

Thank you, this is very helpful. I didn't notice draw attack with Y is actually the advancing slash! Will do that from now on
