How long is my attack window?
How dangerous is the monster?
How much room do I have to dash dance?
How much stamina do I have to work with or do I have time to let my stamina recharge for a second to pull my ideal combo?
B, Rt, Rt, B is what I often see recommended, but I dont use it much. The first shot costs no stamina, but it hits like a popcorn fart. In most cases, I'd rather spend the extra stamina than sacrifice the same amount of time investment with practically no return. To each their own though.
That being said, i use Rt, Rt, Rt, B a lot. If the monster is about to move, I use this to give it a second to attack or move to watch what it does so I can reposition accordingly. It's also a good way to keep dmg rolling at medium-long distance.
I use dash, Rt, B A LOT. probably more than I technically should. However, it is a big stamina investment and I often have to nope out and waste more in the event I have to dodge. But with more aggressive monsters, I feel like this combo is best in general, even when the monster is standing.
A lot of this changes for tempered and AT monsters. If you look at areas of effect for monster's attacks, dash dancing, or even dash, dash, B is a better option just to get out of the danger zone to attack more safely. Or with flying dingus monsters, I may find myself just mostly spamming Rt to preserve my stamina until it swoops in to attack, so i can dash, B.
And in solo, towards the end of a KO i will do the cocanut rain to stack on some KO dmg for other opportunities to do cocanut rain. Though tbh, I play a lot of MP, so cocanut isn't really even in my rotation, so I'm just used to never using it at all.
As for normal shots vs. spread deco, idk the math behind it. All I know is I've seen many speedrunner builds with 1-2 levels of spread and no normal, but I've never seen normal with no spread. I dont know the math, but they do, so I just go with what they do. But I'm assuming that it in-line with slightly lower % of a much higher # > slightly higher % of a much lower #
The powershot (B) is a lot stronger than Rapid shot (RT). In fact, more than twice as strong. So you would want the extra 10/15% raw on the B instead.
Note: the EFFECTIVE RANGE on B is very low, which is why a lot of bow players shoot arrows not far from melee range.
Stamina for bow is basically damage. Any time u can generate stamina means being able to do more dash dances for damage, which translates to more dps. I have not used rt rt rt circle or any variations of that for at least 1000 hunts, and i don't see that even changing considering how the mechanics work. There are more niche case uses for draw-and-hold to gain bow charge than starting off with a level 1 rapid shot simply due to the fact that L1 rapid literally doesn't do anything better other than a really miniscule amount of damage which is offset by losing potential damage down the line from not dash dancing
I do play 100% Co-Op, so I try not to use coconuts on my rotation, only when playing with other ranged classes, as of now I am going for Velkhana, I gues I still need some parts of her for the second armor piece, still have no Idea with one to chose, using two Kulve for the Guts bonus and Critical Boost 3, I still have no idea how to properly replace the 3 set legiana, I am already set for the Velkana healm due to the decoration slots and Divine blessing 2, I guess all that it's left is see what kind of other armor pieces I can slot in the reaming places...in this case, chest or pants...
Hum lunastra does have health boost (yes, Divine blessing and Health Boost, I have 300 hours playtime, but let's say that I still get hit quite a lot, I'm afraid)
ah, got it! Velkhana head for the divine blessing, kirin chest for the Critical eye and divine blessing,, kulve hand and boot for the critical boost and I guess... velkana pants for the set bonus... now for the getting one bow for every element, huh... Flich Free does seem to be quite usefull... interesting.
oh yeah, and the Mighty Bow 2 farming must resume, I guess...
You've gotta *not* want it. Desire sensor knows when you are looking for something particular and then makes it ultra hard to get. Once you don't care about getting the gem you'll have them coming out your ears. Gotta outsmart the system
I agree.
If you're looking for builds other than the meta max dps at all costs you might find these useful.

I do however seem to understand that I went for the worst weapon to gear up for, having an entire weapon be "locked" behind one decoration seems to be a bit extreme, but such is life, I guess I will have to pay Jagras another visit... or 10... per day...
-full affinity 100%

i mainly use normal shots so lean on crit and normal damage> using a 4 pcs set of kulv for the potions and a safi bow with a gold rathian and gold rath pants> damage is not optimal if i may say so> can be out performed by kjar, but that means free potions, dash juice, might seed, adamant seed, Great sushifish scale and drown the monster in potions.
set has Normal2,Crt3,free meal3,globner3,friendship5, health boost 3 and div protect5. then pump ele and expert with as much as you want.
"drown the monster in potions and it will die"
