do u upgrade the armor even more once u get iceborne or the max armor will be the one u can reach before iceborne?

After you augment/finish upgrading it before Iceborne that will be its maximum defense. I think it has like 180 or so less defense Master Rank upgraded gear but quite a few people and speedrunners love that Teostra Y headpiece.

icebornes armor is better accross the board defense wise. teo head beeing meta on some speedrunner builds is basically stupid. only a speedrunner should do this. you lose over 100 defense by doing that and the gain is absolutly minimal aswell. not worth it for a normal player imo. it just proves how badly a better mt set is needed for mr currently.

you CAN finish iceborne story in high rank full armor with max upgrades. but starting around 3 star master rank quests you will start to see massive dmg taken if you dont avoid all attacks. if you run hb 3 you can push till the end.

otherwise youll see 2 shot deaths very often the farther you try to go. i would recommenced replaceing high rank amor around 3 star master rank quests (around barioth basically). unless you SOS can get carried trough everything of course. thats another story entirely.

At first, the gamma armour can be upgraded to about 80-90 defence. Compare to MR armour, MR starts at 110~, which can be upgraded to 170~ by the end of the story (MR24) and maxed out at 200~

For Gamma, the highest you can ever get is 100-110. So you are losing a lot of defence if you stay in gamma.

However, some still uses Teostra Gamma because it offers 2 Lv2 slots as opposed to the MR Teostra beta that only offers 1 Lv4 slot.
