Can mods get you banned?

Just wondering because I wanted some layered armor changes. If mods are allowed, can I play online with them or offline only? I heard iceborne also made some changes to mods, so what are those?

No, there's no ban system.

Iceborne made modding slightly more annoying by partially locking out the NativePC folder used to load mods. You need stracker's mod loader to restore NativePC functionality.

The real answer is that technically cheating or altering files can get you banned, but Capcom does nothing about it really and has only taken action against a very small group of people. In general they will never know if you use a mod and will never do anything about you using mods.

The only reason some people got action taken against them is they messed with other players and probably got banned for abusing players rather than for cheating.

Again, if you don't get noticed or reported, no action will be taken against you.

Please don't spread misinformation. No one has been banned from a mainline monster hunter game since Tri.

NO ONE has been banned from MHW on PC.
