I have noticed that every time I help a lower ranked player I get a golden egg. When I played MHW on PS4 this wasn't a thing, is this something new?

It was added in iceborne to incentivize helping lower level players.

Additionaly, at first it was a feature only when MR player helped non MR player, but later they extended it to anyone with lower MR rank than you.

upgrading armor with armorspheres is the biggest moneysink in the entire game tbh
