Light weapons and the Claw
How does the tenderise work with light weapons?

I've only used heavy weapons until now and I vaguely remember it's claw attack twice then tenderise or you have to tenderise twice?

Assuming that's correct what happens if you claw attack once/twice then flinch shot? Does it reset once you get off the monster? Do you need to claw attack 0/1/2 more times after that before tenderising?

You either do the CC attack twice or you can slap them 3 times then do the attack. Or if you are using the SnS or DBs you can do combo attacks that will tenderise in one go.

To tenderize you need to do at least 2 claw attacks and then do the weapon attack for light weapons. Most people have agitator in their set so they go with 3 claw attacks to get the monster enraged. You could instead do two weapon attacks instead of doing two claw attacks as well. However when the tenderized part gets back to normal, doing only one weapon attack is necessary to get it back to its tenderized state instead of 2. This is from my own experience playing around with the LBG.

Tenderizing like this lasts significantly less time than large weapons.

I always claw it twice when using bow or sns..

Using claws to tenderise in one go is convenient, but also keep in mind that if you can tenderise in 2 attacks, then you can wallbang twice for most monsters, including Tempered Nergi. Maximum 3 claws for first wallbang, then only 1 claw allowed before wallbanging for the 2nd one or the monsters become enraged and roar you off.

Or you can download one finish tenderizer mod.

I think most people prefer not to cheat though...

There was a balance community mod that was in the works awhile ago to fix the entire game and patch capcoms dumb ideas/mechanics, don't know what happen to it :steamsad:.

Also how long exactly does the tenderise last and does this vary per weapon type?
And once a part is already tenderised does doing the weapon attack again refresh the timer or do I need to claw + weapon attack for that?

Trust me, if its from the modding community, it's far from balanced.

I think it's 90s across the board? Sadly you'll have to do it again, no refresh.

I'm fairly sure that, for light weapon tenderizing attacks, each of the two hits that it takes to tenderize is on its own timer. So if you do the tenderize attack once, wait 30 seconds, and then do it again, that first attack will "disappear" when its time runs out (assuming it's 90 seconds active, then the first attack will disappear after 60 seconds after the second attack, at which point the tenderize will go away until you refresh it).

A somewhat confusing thing to explain, I know. But basically it's just "as long as both of your light weapon tenderize attacks happened in the last 90 seconds (or whatever it is), it'll stay tenderized." Once it's been 90 seconds after your first attack, you'll lose the tenderize until you do it one more time, to make a second one active
