Wanna hit him in melee? Hah, that's cute. He flies around 95% of the fight just barely outside your range.
Wanna try some cool stuff to maybe get around that flight? NOPE SORRY, FALL ON YOUR BUTT BECAUSE WIND PRESSURE!
"I'll just bring wind resist lvl 5" cute, real cute. doesn't work. you need his freaking SET BONUS to negate that, or hunting horn song!
"Okay! I'll bring hunting horn with that buff!" Did i forget to mention he roars constantly when he 'powers up?'
Even with all that, Kushala is easy, the only remote threat in this fight, are his expanding tornados in master rank. Kushala serves NO PURPOSE in any game, then to be an irritating slog. It was even worse in older games thanks to his wind aura actually reflecting gunner projectiles...
Ever since I encountered it in MH4U, its been a thorn in my side. I cant stand the constant screeching, the fact its stupidly fast and just it in general. Even being as good as I am from years of hunting, I still struggle hard against it
Honestly he's such a weak wind monster. Elder Dragons are supposed to be their opportunity to make Monsters a little less grounded in reality and a little more towards fantasy/magic. But none of the ways Kushala controls wind are interesting in any way, they're awful. There have been WAY better wind monsters, I think he's only in this game because his skeleton is so basic and reuseable.
I feel like he's a lot better now compared to past games, but he can be a bit obnoxious still. In previous games he was Plesioth tier.
I think Tempered Velkhana is my achillies heel. Fighting her in the story I actually really like the fight a lot, especially the clean and quick tail attacks that reward good dodge timing. But for some reason when she's tempered and enraged she sometimes just absolutely spams her frost spells and it can get obnoxious and unfun really quickly.
I prefer to fight 1000 kirins
If the tornadoes were not enough, the madlad eventually gets an aura around him unless you elder seal it. It makes fighting him as a melee weapon a nightmare. I just recently made a hunting horn build specifically for it that utilizes the Safi Shatterhorn with the song set that includes nullify ALL wind pressure. Whenever a friend needs to fight him, I will make sure we all get our cut.
Fk both of them..
HM: Uragaan
But when i changed my strategy and start using lance and gunlance on him, he ain't threat no more lol..
And her ultimate feels unfair sometimes. I always make sure to keep the flames far away when I think she's about to do the nova, but in MR it doesn't matter, her tick damage melts my hp, even if I'm 15 meters away. It's illogical how standing in fire deals six times less than her releasing heat from her body as radiation...
on the other hand, lavasioth and any monsters like him are just total garbage to fight. they have way too much defense and health, and they run around & do nothing for too much time. it's just an annoyance overall
