Evade Gunlance, not lance. Evade style is much more suited for gunlance than it is for lance and I'm pretty sure you dodge further with gunlance, or at least it feels like you dodge further. I can definitely say super backhopping across the map with GL feels so much better than running.
Meh even for Gunlance I only take Evade Extender 3 for repositioning and hopping to the monster.
Evade extender is well known for being basically a core skill to have on Gun Lance, but guard skills are cheaper and don't require timing so I don't think it makes any sense to run the quite expensive Evade Window 5
Not nearly as good on normal GL since melee attacks really do matter, but wide can make use of Evade Window and long GL really shines with it.
Taking up a charm slot for a defensive skill is the literal polar opposite of free. That is incredibly expensive. Also disagree that Evade Window and Extender pair well together. They don't synergize and when you have one you shouldn't need the other. I do agree with your point regarding shell spam, you barely need any skills to reach peak efficiency and you'll have deco slots coming out your ears in the Raging Brachy set, so at the very best I can say in that situation is it doesn't hurt you.
As long as you are not running Long you will still utilize melee attacks. It should be the Agitator 5 charm in that situation. Guard 5 would be another option as it doesn't have the timing requirements evading attacks does.
Personally I don't use any other charm because the only other worthwhile ones I can think of are earplugs and handicraft but I almost never use those on GL.
Earplugs is great for solo play on Gunlance. It allows you to WSB the monster while its roaring so you are instantly provided with its benefits. Watching speedrunners on TubeYou its almost mandatory.
I also made a build with long shelling that had both lol
