Hunting Horn, Bonk in C minor.

Jokes aside, I guess this is a topic for an indeph answer, I play all weapons, favoring some more than others, and my mains are Horn, Great Sword, Gunlance and Switch Axe.

About the Horn I like it's mobility, the buffs it provides are game changing (+20% attack, or immunity to all debuffs ) and it can deal huge ammounts of damage without spending too much sharpness.

Great Sword is, well, great. Huge numbers, anticipation, gambles, win big - lose big. It has no major flaws and is a solid weapon.

Gunlance plays middleground with dps and defense (kinda meh, but evasion extender substitute defense anyway ), shelling strategies are nice and wyrmstake is also a gamble, like basically all hits in this game.

Switch Axe is incredible fun, specially that Jagras exhausting weapon, nice mobility, pokes and damage with built in skills, what not to love.

Greatsword because its the best weapon no other weapon is great.

Jokes aside its one of the most satisfying weapons to hit things with especially when you can see damage numbers.

longsword

cool move, that aerial slash straight to the ground is so satisfying to land. also when you successful evade enemy attack with foresight. every slash sound is nice to hear. but rather bad with tenderizing.

Charge Blade

my first weapon in this game, bring me toward story without a knowledge about phial, just smashing button, and spam axe mode, haha if i remember it, i realize how funny i was on every quest, not even know you can charge your shield.

Greatsword

this one carry me through iceborne story one the first day. simple hit and run against new monster and their move which i dont know yet. iron tree if i am not mistaken.

Bow.

Simple controls, but one of the hardest weapons to master. 2nd highest DPS potential, and stylish af.

Longsword.

Something about it just feels like those old action games when the first weapon is actually the best. Ninja Gaiden, Devil may cry 3. I can dodge while attacking, lots of reach, versatile, fast.

Hunting horn. The flow of it's combat fits me perfectly. And it's always been fun for me to play a support role in multiplayer. Healers or at least hybrids in mmos, Lucio and Moira in Overwatch, stuff like that. On top of that, while HH has a support role it can still dish out plenty of damage and has a fairly simply moveset once you get the hang of preparing songs. So even more fun than full on support.

As for secondary weapons.
I mained CB for a while in vanilla. SAED is super fun to land, and the new axe mode makes it even more to swing the axe around before an SAED. Was a hard weapon to get the hang of, but great once I did.

And I'm currently running 2 LBG builds to break up the HH gameplay a little, one spread and one pierce. (still working on elemental builds) The new evade reload mechanic is super fun to use, especially when the timing is just right and you dodge away from the monster's attacks. And getting those perfect rapid fire spread blasts to the monster's face or rapid fire pierce shots right through the entire monster is pretty satisfying as well.

Hunting horn. It's basically the longsword to the blunt weapons. It has specific song sets that can be customized on the safi horn, and you look absolutely badass when you get on a roll and punish the hell out of monsters. The playstyle and combo moveset is also somewhat varied, based on the song note progression you need to play, and you have songs and buffs / unique moves that no other weapon can do. The horn also has one of the highest base movement speeds, in built deflection prevention, and no excuses for playing bad, as their only tool for evading damage is either positioning or regular dodging. The weapon is also extremely rewarding, due to being a blunt weapon with ko's / exhaustion that makes fights actually easier with the amount of openings you can build up, but also difficult as you have to recognize a lot of nuances of the weapon while knowing attacks and speed / range of attacks from your foe. And finally, you can buff allies (att up xl is 20% extra damage), but that should never be your priority. At most, you should buff yourself, and any buffs your allies receive should just be incidental gravy.
