Troubled Troupers WTF!

I've been trying to get this quest for over 5 hours, I keep going into Coral Highlands expedition and the Grimalkynes riding the shamos' never appear, I have tried in low rank with every researcher present, high rank with every researcher present and I don't know what I'm doing wrong, can someone help?

" You need to begin by doing research for the Lynian Researcher, in Expedition Mode, in the Coral Highlands. The researcher will not always be there. However, you can check and see by setting your cursor over the Highlands on the map, and then look at the info box on the side of the screen. At the bottom it will tell you which researcher is in the area (Lynian, Piscine, or Endemic Life). Also, switch between low and high rank, as each can have a different researcher. If he'd not there, go clear a quest and check again. Go meet with the Lynian Researcher, and he will have you tracking down "doodles" (AKA: Grimalkyne tracks), until you are able to find the Troupers (when you have enough doodles found, you can see the an icon like two cats next to each other on the map). After you meet with them, head back to the Lynian Researcher (might be at base camp by now, but you can see him on the map). At that point (either meeting the cats or back to the researcher, can't recall), you will receive the Troubled Troupers quest."

I can't find any doodles or Grimalkyne tracks anywhere though. I've searched for them for a while too and can't find anything online for where tracks are either.

Have you done the ancient forest and wildlife ones yet?

Supposedly they need to be done in order. This did seem to be the case for rotten vale one, as soon as I finished coral they appeared but before they did not.

hmmm maybe try searching for them with an armor that has scoutfly buff? if your scoutflies can see things in a larger radius, maybe they'll find doodles and light them up. I do know they were relatively rare and in weird locations, but I don't remember exactly where in the coral highlands they were. Maybe if you search near the grimalkyne nest at area 11?

I've done the Ancient Forest, Wildspire Waste and Rotten Vale one. The only one I'm missing is Coral Highlands.

Hmm well they spawn in the area where pink rathian sleeps, the multi tiered area with the vines to the west of camp 12. They are on the floor level. Beyond that I’m not sure, they were there first time for me.

you need to have completed the initial CH expedition to find the camp, spot the tzizi etc. apart from that i dont believe there are any conditions to them showing up

I think he's talking about the photo thing not the quest to befriend them

Now I havent done this stuff on pc but I remember snapping him somewhere near camp 1 leading to the zone below paolumus nest. Most of the early cat things have more than 1 location also pay mind to the weather

spawnrate is pretty low for the coral events
