MHW problem Guardian armor

I'm sick of wearing this capcom knight guardian armor. I'm many hours into the game, and haven't been able to find anything with stats than can beat it.

I want to be able to make cool armors out of the monsters i'm killing but I can't. They're too weak. I understand that in the late game they get stronger, but so far no luck.

Is there a way to equip cosmetics without the DLC? Thanks.

Or just endure it 'til Iceborne content and craft yourself a nice stronger Bone Armour.

Guardian/defender gear is made to carry you, don't use it if you don't want everything to be easy.

My first layered armor in base game was from events. You get tickets to use at the Smithy.

You shouldn't use Guardian/Defender amor. It's basically easy mode implemented by Capcom to make you reach Iceborne faster.

Not gonna say you're trash or something but defender gear is in the game for people who want to reach Iceborne's content quickly. I personally don't think any new players should use it as it won't give you the MonHun experience and leave you really in the dark about a lot of things once master rank comes and monsters aren't too happy about you abusing them anymore. MR is a big difficulty spike and you won't learn how to properly build not just for the occasion but even for your own preference. I recommend looking for what skills seem cool or what weapons might be nice and putting defender in the bin

I mean...just take it off if you really don't like it.
There are other armors with better skills more than that even tho the defense isn't as good as defender gears in your current state.
As people mentioned above, defender gears are pratically made for people who want to rush the base game as fast as possible to reach iceborne, so unless you are not in hurry then why bother, experimenting with other armors and build new something are way more interesting..

That's great and all- but I'm not playing in a solo environment. I've got 3 other pals, it's a competitive and path of least resistance atmosphere. None of us want to give up the colossal stat boost. It just doesn't make sense.

Can you use layered armor without iceborne?

I agree with you guys, the game would be a lot funner and balanced if capcom hadn't implimented this cheat- but because it's in the game, we have almost no choice but to use it. If you're striving for power, you don't just pass up opportunities to gain more of it, just doesn't make sense.

Try checking the blacksmith for the layered armour option. Back then, we got 'em via quest rewards.

Layered armor isn't really obtained until high rank, where you can get some from event quests.

The rest is in master rank from events and an endgame zone.

Seriously, though. Dump the crutch armor and learn to actually play the game.

Well i mean defense isn't everything in MH, there are a lot other factors to create good experience as well..
Also people been using other armors before defender gears being added months ago and they work just fine..
For layered, yes you can.

Competitive environment in a cooperative game ? Well, strange stance, but yours.
If you aren't speedrunning the game, you could totally beat the game with "classic" armor. Instead of tanking hit, evade it. You will have less hard time starting learning patern from now.

Still, i would advise to step up if you want to switch gear. The game is not that hard. (Before some devil in master rank)
