Nargacuga mantle (Help)

I have fought and killed 37 Nargacuga and have not received the mantle drop. I am MR17, HR 59 and I'm unsure if I am doing something wrong. I know it will only drop if he's killed and if his head is broken or his tail is cut off. I've played alone and with help and I'm the only hunter not getting one. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated! :3

No, it is not meldable for me.

I'm pretty sure a kill, break, or cut is not necessary. Try running an investigation. I pretty never go more than 2 hunts without getting the rare drop of just about any creature.

What do you need it for? Try some other substitude weapons/armor?

You need to find some investigations then. By now, you should have some, if you've killed so many NC. Check and find investigations with them as the single targets. 5 boxes with gold rewards quite often gives you Mantles.

Break parts, carve tail, + capture = most rewards you can possibly get (i think? idk) and do narga investigations for more

Actually, for the mantle, you will want to kill it. That gives you more carves and possible chances of getting the mantle according the the hunting log. Also, break the face AND carve the tail. You'll need a bladed weapon to sever the tail.
Like others mentioned, do investigations, preferably with 5 gold/silver rewards.

If you really want to go all-out, bring the armor set bonus for better carve chances and better quest rewards.

The log is wrong. Carves and Capture actually have the same reward tables, so capturing is the superior choice since it gives more rewards.

Also, i thought the carve chance skills didn't affect large monsters? i've definitely never seen them work before, for myself or other people

I have done the investigation I have about 10 times but it only has one gold slot :(. I will keep trying though!

I have one investigation that I have done quite a few times but it only has one gold slot sadly and I keep getting the same rare item. I will try progressing in the story and getting one with more gold slots, thanks for the help :3

FYI Gold reward has 16% chance of dropping mantle while silver one has 8%. If you have one with a lot of silver rewards it's also a good one.
