Unlock the angry pickle (HR)

A few days ago i decided to make a new character. Now that i reached the MR and almost completed all my LR/HR Quests i wanted to unlock the Deviljho.
I had no idea how i unlocked them with my first character and it wasnt a problem back then.

But now it's frustrating..

This is what i do:
I went on a expedition with the ??? iconl.
I collected the angry pickles footprints and went back to Astera.
Then i talked to the three researchers but i wantet to make the quest later, so i dont take the quest with me.
Now they are missing.
I looked for them in Astera, in the Researchcamp and even in Seliana.

But i cant find them. I also dont get a special quest on the board.

Maybe you guys can help me with this?

First fight against pickle is a special assignement and not an optional quest.

But it is greyed out. :| MR and LR/HR
Edit: And the research level is 1 now... after i collect footprints after footprints.. *sigh*

Wait, what are you trying to unlock HR or MR pickle? In MR there's only savage pickle and since you did the assignement and are already stalking jho, what do you want?

Im trying to unlock the HR Pickle. It is missing in HR. Sorry if it was a misunderstanding.

I try workarounds from differend guides.
But nothing helps.
The 3 researchers are gone and it looks like there is no way to get/complete the quest.

Did you try to visit ecology researcher if he has special investigation avaiable for you? I dont remember if Jho has its topic there or not.
You can also try travel to Astera with HR rank tab highlighted like when visiting lower rank expeditions. Maybe it works with cities too?
Will verify it once i return home :)

Btw - Jho is unlocked once you come across him on expedition. Just check if there is ??? monster present in the location then go out search that location till you find that oversized cucumber :o)
- hereupon special assignment "Food chain dominator" should unlock. It will introduce Jho as a new monster.

"Deviljho will invade 6★ Quests, 7★ Quests, and high rank expeditions once players have completed the investigation for the “??? Rathian” in the main story. When players load up they will get a prompt saying that Deviljho is found somewhere in the world. For the fastest way to find it:

Load up your world map and check all the locations for a ??? Monster
If there is no ??? Monster, head to any area.
Once in that area, bring up your world map again and check again to see if it appeared
Once you find ??? Monster, head into that area.
It is best to collect it tracks and capture it but slaying it is fine too. Note that you do not have to hunt it at this point, collecting tracks is enough. After players have done so, head back to Astera to check in with the jovial researcher for a cutscene; this will unlock the Deviljho special assignment. Players will have to hunt a Deviljho in Ancient Forest. Hunters will be able to acquire the new mantle, Dragonproof Mantle, after completing the mission."

So, if you dont see that "jovial reasearcher" in Astera after completed tracks collection, you probably sumbled upon a bug:(

BTW, if you started Iceborne story, most NPCs from Astera will be "gone" for a while. Continue with the story till you complete BLIZZARD BLITZ (barioth quest). It think this is when garrison will return from Seliana back to Astera.
Check back after you complete that quest :)

I was looking for them in Astera, in Seliana and in the Researchcamp. I also looked for them in the multiplayer hall. :') This drives me crazy.
I was stalking the pickle multiple times, collecting his footprints and broken theeth and now the researchbar is level 1.
But there is no special assignement and no researchers.

How far did u progressed on Iceborne story?
Check the last paragraph in my second comment. Looks like special assignments are temporarily disabled until you complete Blizzard Blitz quest (i think it is 4th or 5th DLC quest)

The first Beotodus is killed, then the first Banbaro, also the Viper Tobi Kadachi and the Coral Pukei-Pukei.
The Nightshade Paolomu is left. This guy frustrated me too much last night.
All this are main-quests.

In the LR/HR-Quest Section is open:
The Black Diablos
The Quest where you have to kill the black and the normal Diablos. Then there is the Legiana, and the Azure Rathalos.
All this Quests are optional 7 Stars Quests.

Ye, you are on the right track, but still not there. You did not completed Blizzard Blitz yet.
Just continue with DLC assignments until you complete that quest.
It is MR3. complete it and then check back to Astera :) GL
