What's the universes most optimal DB build?

As a GS/Hammer user, I like having one thing that I use to slap all other things into submission. Also it doesn't cost me 50 million zenny getting 2 builds going rather than 1,000. So what's the god among men in the DB department? Or will all DBs deal 2 damage in certain matchups no matter what?

You can basicly build for all 5 elements a 3 Teo Gamma 2 Rathalos/Starlord set, if you need free element, choose a Awakening charm, if you need sharpness then handicraft or something else usefull.

Personal testing aside, I've only ever read generally bad things about blast DB effectiveness. Especially in multiplayer, I believe the threshold for triggering blast is much higher.

Blast is absolute trash. If you want a DB build that you can use on most bosses, try this:

Nevermind the blast element, they hit very hard on their own. However, those DB's won't do as much as matching your target's 3 star weakness and building elemental dual blades.

It doesn't matter against what you use it since 99% of its damage output comes from the physical portion of the attack rather than the blast. Same thing for Diablos Clubs build. Those are all-around dual blades, since nothing resists a pure (or almost pure) physical swing to the face.

Blast/raw are basically all-rounder for DB cause of the high raw damage and blast is just there but still does damage when it procs. Not to mention that the white sharpness lasts way longer than the elemental DB builds.

DB are elemental weapons so by default the answer would be no to a single "meta" build. with elemental weapons you would have a best fire, water, ice, dragon, and electric build that you swap between depending on the monster.

blast is not an element. it is a negative stat similar to poison, para, sleep, ect so it follows a different set of rules to element which is just a type of damage. the main issue being the monster becoming more immune each time it takes effect which makes it useless after a few blasts.

however a DB reliance on element isnt as high as the bow so you can get away with a raw DB build without too much of a loss. im going with a diablos DB build ( waiting for at kt )and im getting sub 10 min hunts without issue so its not the end of the world not using element.

either way all the builds will need to be updated once AT kulve arrives with the new best elemental blades.

The idea of dual blade builds is that because they attack so fast building for elemental damage is actually worth it on them. That's why the builds in the link all use critical element and then add masters touch to help with the sharpness and have a minimum 80% affinity.

You could use the raw build in that link as an all rounder but the right way to use dual blades is to build a set for every element and take whatever element the monster is 3 star weak too.

May need some more testing but my runs with the styx DB are faster against stuff like vaal hazak and odogaron than the meta elemental DBs so empress DBs can definitely compete and perhaps even out perform elemental DBs.
I'm using health augment instead of the affinity augment on the R8 weapons however so that's a big factor.

The build I go with is 2 rath pieces for crit element which is powerful on DB, teo gamma arms for +3 crit eye, and 2 luna pieces for the stamina boost, health boost, and slots. Then you just fill the slots to max out WEX, crit boost, and crit eye. Any leftover slots can go to elemental attacks boosts or whatever else you potentially need. You can just swap out different elemental DBs at this point depending on what you're fighting.

Oh and since I see blast being talked about I'll put in my 2 cents: idk how good it is on other weapons but I've gotten 7-9 explosions to go off vs elder dragons when using the luna DBs. I do typically run apothecary mantle for when I use blast though to get that sick blast buildup.

yeah it'll randomly shave off 1 or 2 swipes. for my CB i always eat for bombardier and polisher. groomer over polisher pending on the fight.
