Elder Melder Save Scum Patched?
So I tried my hand at save scumming the Elder Melder today and something strange happened. Every time I reset my save and rolled again, the decos were exactly the same. Meaning, the decos you get from rolling at the elder melder might now be predetermined. This effectively makes save scumming useless as resetting the save doesn't allow you to find different decos.

For example:
If I rolled and got a scent jewel, an ice attack jewel, and a tenderizer jewel, after resetting my save and coming back to the melder, I roll and get the same exact jewels. I tried it several times, even going so far as to roll jewels 7 times in one go, then reset and roll all 7 again. They all gave me the same decos as the first 7 times.

So it seems to me that they have patched decos to be predetermined, and no matter how many times you re-roll, if it's, say, your 4th time rolling a strange streamstone, then you will get the three jewels predetermined to show up at your 4th time.

Does anyone know anything about this or care to give it a try? I'm honestly kind of relieved if they did patch it because re-rolling felt dirty but necessary.

Also, I don't care if you think save scumming is right or wrong that's not what this discussion is about.

Edit: Turns out they were always predetermined. Thanks to everyone for the answers.

It's always been that way. The way save scumming works is you do what you just did and snipe for only the rolls with good decorations. Every time you do a quest, it progresses the melder forward 1 roll so if you get a handicraft deco on the 4th roll, you do 3-4 quests and then go melder for it.

I thought the decos were pre-determined and the sniping method involved doing a mass amount of melds to mark where particular decorations were on your deco-table, then scumming and manually advancing your place on the deco-table by running missions and melding at specific intervals relative to the initial table you mapped.

Unless I'm totally wrong, which is likely.

but isnt that the point of Deco-Sniping?

- make a backup-save
- meld everything you can and note down the results, especially the position of the triplets that contain the decos you're going for
- apply backup
- "snipe" for the desired decos by going through the triplets with as minimal effort as possible (or Quests it seems), since now you know the which triplets contain the stuff you want and their position within the triplet

Havent bothered with it myself yet, just what ive read about the topic...

They have always been predetermined. That's why deco sniping was developed.
Thanks yall. Thought it was just rerolling.
In case you want to do more research on efficient ways to do this, we call the process of discovering which decorations are coming up "building a melding table".
Why do you waste your time with an ineffective way to cheat which consumes so much time?
install all items mod or use ce to get all the decos in less than 5 mins.

Personally, if I use mods in this way, it almost immediately kills my desire to continue playing/progressing. I've had the experience in so many games now...

But tedious abuse of save files does not? Fascinating

well a quest has a chance to move it forward 1 OR 2 melds. while a low level junk meld will always move it forward 1 meld.

so if say for the next 10 melds you know its garbage, figure out what 5-10 drops specifically, do 5 quests, try a meld after getting everything backed up, to see where you are and continue with the deco sniping.
Quests advance the table in a pattern: 1, 1, 2, repeat. Deco melding always advances it by 1 row, and it doesn't matter which level of deco melding you use to do it; you can use the cheapest one if you're just trying to advance it to the one you want.
