What's unlocked after the HR99 plateau point?
Any new HR-locked armours or weapons? Any new monsters / quests?

Also, is this the last HR plateau (16, 29, 49, 99), or are there more...?

(thanks)

HR 100 has a special quest, and I think HR 75 does as well, but theyre not stopping points.

^ Don't recall much happening at 75... And are you saying that 99~100 doesn't operate like 15~16?

thats basically where you dive deeper into endgame. you get a quest called the sapphire star guidance, where you will have to hunt down 3 elder dragons namely kushala, teostra and nergigante. this gives you an orange name and 2 commission tickets.

^ Hmm... Not exactly 'earth-rending' content... I was kind of hoping for some more armours or weapons, maybe a new monster... or something.

Do these "elder dragons" have different attack patterns from their lesser incarnations?... Or are they just higher damage sponges / vs. clock battles?

You get your final assignment quest at 100, but it doesn't lock your HR to 99 like the ones that came before.

Question:

As one levels up, are there any attribute increases tied to increasing Hunter Rank? Or is the rank just an effective 'cap' on what equipment can be accessed up 'til HR49, and then nothing more than a number, beyond that point...?

Hunter rank only unlocks quest tiers. After 100 nothing more is unlocked besides some guild card titles.

^^^ Yep, HR won't do anything for you after 100. If you want weapons/armor go do special assignments, Kulve Taroth, and then Arch Tempered event quests.

Don't be quick to poo poo the commission tickets they are used to make some damn good weapons and charms.

well tbh, I've had around 700+ play time in this game and without events, theres nothing much to do. if you're looking for a challenge maybe going after AT monsters and behemoth (namely extremoth) would be a good change of pace (if youre not already doing those).

You get an achivement for HR100, and a quest where you fight 3 Temp Elder Dragons. I don't remember any special reward for that one, also they have drastically cut down health bars in it so much like the arena fight "big deal"-quest before, so it's actually surprisingly easy.
Only a ridiculously easy quest at HR100 to turn your name from green to orange in the lobby.

A full, competent, experienced and team-orientated team -- comprised of members who don't habitually 'rage abandon' you mid-battle -- is required for that. This is an arcane formula to concoct, even at the game's height of activity; let alone, now--as it dwindles.
---

As for the "HR100 and uninstall" notion: If the game allowed for incremental increases to attributes / equipment stats, the replay incentive would always be present. Not sure why they decided to effectively 'cap' everything at the last tier of weapon upgrades, whilst still letting players level up to 999... Seems incongruous... 🤔

NB: Nioh allow levelling to 750 (any beyond--with a trainer), with half-a-dozen difficulty settings unlocked as one progresses. Indeed, the game's copious loot is commensurate to level and enemy attributes -- making continuous play (grinding) somewhat incentivised... Unlike with MHW.

Sigh.

Hunter Rank isn't a level. You're not gaining any stats or anything as your HR goes up. This isn't Nioh or Dark Souls.

Because skill level should be what matters. Hunter rank shouldn't trivialize things just for existing.
