Oh, and for flying monsters, shoot a flash pod at them while they're flying and they'll come crashing down to earth, giving you a long opening to hit them.
2) Sharpness is a damage increase, and changes if you bounce on an area or not.
Affinity is crit rate, which raises damage by 25%, 40% with crit boost.
Special ammo is just ammo specific to bow guns, says on the bow gun which ammo you have.
3)If you want to learn a weapon, just playing in game isn't going to get you a whole lot. Monster hunter is more about experience and studying then anything, and that applies to weapons. It may be annoying, but thats just how it is.
4) Sounds like you have something that makes you auto reload, don't remember what does it. I don't remember ever having that issue with LBG.
And having dragons dogma combat would make it a completely different game. I don't want to play that, I want to play monster hunter. And how is struggling to swing a great sword and hammer not struggling? They are slow BECAUSE of the weight of them, while lighter weapons like dual blades and sns are very fast. And no, world is not rigid in the least with movements, they are deliberate. Move speed is fine without weapons drawn, you aren't moving fast with a great big sword drawn, thats reality.
Some weapons will have a hard time again some monsters, others won't, don't be afraid to try another weapon ;) (it's best to know at least 2 so you can adapt if you're really struggling with one).
For the charge attacks, you can't always use them. Sure, they're strong, but useless if you miss 90% of the time. But besides a few exceptions, you can always find a window to place an attack (not always a strong one, but still).
For the broken hitboxes, well, you'll have to learn which one are broken by trial and error, and you can't do much about it.
2- Yes, we lack info in-game. Not much else to say =).
3- Some combos/tips aren't explained in-game, but most of the time, it's some advanced knowledge, the game gives you the basics for each weapon and that's it. Again, it could have been more developped. Only advice i can give you, arrekz made very good guides for each weapon (from basic to advanced moves).
4- You have two buttons for unsheathing, one draw the weapon, the other one draw the weapon AND reload. If think it's the shooting key to unsheathe without reloading.
All in all, yes the game isn't really begginer friendlty and lack a lot of explanation/correct tutorials. But once you master the weapons/monsters, it's quite fun. A lot of weapons are slow at first sight, but then, you learn to use some counterhit, dodgything, hyperarmor move,... and the weapon isn't all that slow =). What feels slow is bouncing on a monster, being sent flying, etc.
Not to mention it makes any fight feel a lot more manageable if you're using a weapon that fits with your play style, so don't be afraid to experiment. I started out using dual blades and hammer, but eventually settled on charge blade as my main and switch axe as a secondary.
But really, you don't need much any of it while still in story mode. It'll just come together as you go.
Recommend you can google for best solo weapon, after you decide watch youtube how to use it well, my main since beginning is bow, easy to fight every monster even i succeed kill nergigante solo at first try even i use many potion and take long time.
2. ok
3. ever played fighting games? You have to figure out many things by yourself in training mode.
4. unsheathe with R2/RT instead
But yes there are a LOT of mechanics,a quick one you can edit your Shortcut wheel and items wheels, but you'll need to save you items loadout (not equipement the one for your consumable).
There are a lot of mechanics attached to your gear and it will help you overcome "annoying" mechanics, wanna drink faster ? take speed eating you shuge the potion instently, wanna stop getting stuned when you get hit twice in quick succession, take anti sun 3 bam you are Immun to that ! same for drawing weapon/sheating them.
The sword and shield for exemple is a fast melee weapon, with a shield to do KO damage to give you more opurtunities, best part you can use Items while the weapon is drawn.
When fighting a flying monster use flash pods, they will drop to the ground and you'll have a large window to deal damage while they are blind,Same for Diablos when he borrows underground use a screamer pod and BAM he is trapped.
Affinity is Crit rate, you can either get it from the weapon itself,or boost it via Armor perks and Decorations.
And the more you practice learn the map the easier time you'll have with this game, see them as arenas that gives you oppurtunities, ledges to mount monsters, trees to snare monsters and rocks to deal tons of damage and stun the boss.
Use Consumable such a dash juice for weapons like the bow and db (weapons that eat a lot of stam),buff yourself before every fight (demon drugs last till you die, seeds last 3 mins),if a monster deals too much damage eat for fish it gives DEF buff, and upgrade your armor.
Food skills, when you open the food menu you will see colors and pressing a button will show you the combinations, for exemple 6 Blue pieces of food (can be fish, meat or veggies) will give you Felyne Moxie a skill that Prevents fainting one time.
The game is big fun and large so experiment don't let him break you,you have to break HIM ! :D and have a nice day,if you want more tips PM me i can help you in game or with voice chat it will be easier.
Pick up dual blades or insect glaive if you want to be speedy, but just know you'll be trading large damage numbers in exchange for fast attacks and quick dodges.
The game gives you button prompts on the top right of your screen which dynamically shifts depending on the previous input, which tells you what you can do next. Go into the training area, pick a weapon you like, and experiment, then head out into an expedition to test your newfound skills. The game will list SOME combos, and briefly highlight what the weapon is capable of in the training room, but you're meant to play around and figure it out.
If the game was like dragons dogma, then it wouldn't be monster hunter now would it? It would be dragons dogma.
Not everyone is going to enjoy the way this game plays, but judging by the large success this game has seen, many people do.
What I will point out is that MH series has always had the philosophy of not explaining stuff to you. A big part of the draw is for your to actually explore and experiment and work this stuff out yourself. I see a big part of you not understanding this and thus having a very different expectation of the game in what you've said. Even the simple moves guide in MHW is more than we've ever had. They left out some of them so that people could still explore and find more for themselves.
The combat here is deliberate and intentional. Its about learning your enemies and knowing your strengths and weakness
