Endless scrolling that wont stop

every time I alt tab or even switch from pad to keyboard or even just to type in a ID so i can join a game i get trapped in an endlessly scrolling menu, how the hell do i fix this??

for me it suddetly happened in-game during monster combat, pressed/held some weird combination of too many buttons and probably scrolled down at the same time, and somehow it got stuck scrolling down (it's bound to the item list and I can see the icon for scroll down constantly highlighted, while scroll up isn't)

regular PC, just keyboard+mouse, replugging keyboard/mouse doesn't fix it, nor does alt+tab, nor does trying to mash more buttons/modifiers

after getting to camp and ending the expedition that way (couldn't via menu since it kept scrolling), it got stuck on the summary screen, and alt+tab and close it loosing progress...:/

You won't believe it, a guy on reddit solved it. It's Firefox! I tried it and changed to google chrome to look up stuff in the MHW wiki and since then the bugs is gone. Just don't open firefox while playing monster hunter.

He might just need to update it. I had the same bug in the base game, and am using a different computer now, and the install of Firefox is much more recent and I never had it on this PC.

Could you link to the redit post? This has been an issue for a while now that I have had. It happens with Chrome for me to though. Maybe there is some common link though

Also I can just say that the bug disappeared for me, I have no problems anymore since I use a newly downloaed Google Chrome (with default settings!!)

Seriously you need to find something better to do than sitting on the discussion board policing what people say.

I just bought the game and this pretty much makes it unplayable, so yeah I was hitting as many threads as possible to bring attention to it. Deal with it.

It's not Firefox or any browser. It's the touchpad with a USB controller connected.
Try this. Boot the game. Scroll through the chat or something with a 2-finger swipe on the touchpad.
Now check the menu. It will be speed auto-scrolling and your game will be broken. I've verified this on two different laptops. I can recreate the glitch this way.
SO... either disable the touchpad, or avoid swiping the touchpad. I've informed Capcom. Hopefully they'll patch this out. Anyway, I don't ever get this glitch anymore unless I accidentally swipe, and if I do I know it's basically my fault and I'm not surprised by it anymore.

I'm having the same problem as well, but I found a temporary way to 'fix' it.
you can spam the spacebar on the menu until you get the communication tab's gesture, then spam again until you get the locked add-on content, press 'yes', and the data will be saved upon access so you can just manually close the game without saving.

Just wanna let you guys know I just ran into this issue. Definitely related to switching to a different window while mhw is open.

Also I had to do this too and it allowed me to save my game. Exited and rebooted and now I'm good.

Fixed: See which way it is scrolling, then scroll 1 click at a time in the opposite direction on your mouse wheel. The issue starts with me if I scroll up or down AND it keeps track of how many times I scrolled. So if I scrolled up once, it will infinitely scroll to the left until I scroll down once, if I scrolled up two clicks, it will scroll infinitely until I scroll down two click, etc.
