Is the temporal mantle too OP?
I'm saying this as someone who had neglected after I unlocked it because I didn't realize how effective it was.

I was stuck on the tempered elder dragons wanted to beat one alone if I could because I'm that kind of player, so I decided I would pick one and learn it until I could beat it. Vaal was target because I felt like he was the easiest elder. I mean I beat him once first try and mutliplayered him a few times after but because of this I didn't really know his moves that well.

I tried to learn him and after 3 attempts decided to watch some youtubes about Vaal and the temporal mantle was recommended. I decided to keep it in mind since I had unlocked it.

I farmed up another tempered Vaal investigation and tried again. This time I really screwed up, I wasn't very warmed up and let him kill me twice with only a moderate amount of damage done. I felt like I had basically failed but remembered about the temporal mantle. I equipped and proceeded to crush the monster for the duration. I got hurt and just ran away, scared to get another quest failed. I then realized the cooldown for it wasn't that bad. I mean I had 50 mins, it was recharging quick, I decided to only engage when the mantle was up and retreat when it was down.

It was shocking easy to do this method. I realized I could then probably use this cheap tech to farm any tempered elder dragon....this mantle seems to go against the core gameplay of learn the fight. Which is something I did for most monsters in the game once it was at least tempered. I can't help but wonder why this is in the game.

Now, I'm just curious about peoples opinions about it. I'm not saying it should be removed and in fact I think I have to run it now every time because of how powerful it is...but the question is should it be like that.

I just got the rocksteady mantle but haven't tried it. Look forward to the sequel to this thread. Is rocksteady mantle too OP?
You have a better chance of surviving using temporal mantle than rocksteady due to the fact that you can get hit by multiple attacks quickly and faint because you can't get knock backed.

its op . mostly cuz you can atack imidietly after get hitted . which make most hunts trivial.
with regen weapon no need to worry with enviromental, chip and light strikes damage which temporal mantle not negate

temporal mantle should pupose as defense tool not offense one .

I stopped using mantles except thunder and fire against AT elemental elders. Not that I need them to beat them, but dodging lightening bolts for 15 minutes, knowing that a missed dodge is basically a KO, can get exhausting. The proof mantles give a little mid-hunt breather.

Even rocksteady feels like it unbalances the combo game. (Which wasn't necessarily balanced to begin with, mind you.)

I don't really mind when other hunters use them, as I'd rather finish the quest than see faints, but they're definitely a skill crutch that don't really speed up the hunt. I can still top the dmg charts without them.

If I have to be honest I hate all the mantles. There were never a thing in previous titles. You had to equip EVASION gems or get armor with it to be able to roll like a pro ( that was my playstyle ) I found that using mantles not only my skill was dulled but the combat overall was cheapened ( in a sense that A.I will spam AOE's or read your input to punish you ).
Now you can tank with evasion mantle, get extra hp or damage and tremor/knockback resistance ( things that previously you had to gem in or get armors to make it work ). HP regen is total BS on armor as well. I forgo completely EVASION skills and just run REGEN or CRIT DMG as this is the new META for MH. This is handicap and CAPCOM knows it, hence the mosnters have cheap 1 shot moves, AOE damage or plain cheap combo attacks ( it rarely happened in previous MH titles that I had aggro for SO MANY ATTACKS ) now monster really wants you dead.

finally someone who also consider valor style like that

i just, could not appreciate at all this style, i just stick with bushido or guild depending of the weapon i use
I think they balanced some of the arch tempered monsters around it.
Its ironicly the thing you use when you want to deal as much damage as posible.
But id personally nerf it so each auto doge decreases its duration a bit.

Yeah, I thought it was weird that vitality mantle goes away like a puff of smoke against Tmpered fights, but temporal just outclasses it with basically no downside.

Like many things in MHW, they did not balance the mantles
