What is a yellow health bar?
I never really paid that much attention to the health bar, as long as it was high everything is fine! But recently I have noticed death happening shortly after the entire bar turns yellow. Specifically what causes it to turn yellow?

That means you have increased health regeneration from something like the coral orchestra, a hunting horn, and I think Astera Jerky also gives it?

Yellow health is what red health turns into while under the affect of that increased regeneration.

Ah OK. I have never seen it before because I don't usually bother with regeneration, I just heal to 100% or accept the loss of red if it's small, but in the past few days I have noticed the yellow. I guess the regeneration has come too late, probably part in due to my confusion about the yellow - I should heal if the entire bar is yellow LOL. Thanks.

Astera Jerky heals all of your red health instantly and grants you increased regeneration (yellow health). It also cures bleeding.

That was why I was seeing the yellow. Over the past day or so I have used the Jerky, but the only time I noticed the yellow is immediately before I died. My entire bar was yellow. Or does it just mean that I have full yellow health but have been one-shotted? I am not sure.

An entire bar of yellow health means you have almost no actual health, and lots of temporary/regenerating health. The good thing is that temp health is lost to things like burning or poison first before your real health, giving you those valuable seconds you need to pull out a potion before that last hitpoint is lost.

It's kind of fun to play with a regeneration build; using several Vaal pieces for the super regeneration, having the regeneration skill, and the regeneration buff. Your yellow health heals up in seconds; like 10% per second. It's crazy. Your damage suffers, but your self-mending bones will thank you.
