Question about monster icons.

I noticed this in high rank and I'm wondering what it's about. Sometimes the monster icons next to the minimap are highlighted/outlined. I'm basically at the beginning of high rank, so I doubt they're tempered monsters. Do they show up at random on any quest or something? Or is this something else.

Once you've gathered enough tracks to fill a monster research bar, a green outline will appear on a monster's portrait to help identify a monster's status: hunger, heart rate, traveling direction, and close-to-death.

Purple and orange outlines show if a monster is tempered, or arch tempered. You can still gather tracks to put a green outline, that will alternate between the two colors, on these.

Oh, is white the basic/first one you get then? Glad I got some info on this, it seemed like no one really knew. (I think someone asked before and people thought he meant the minimap itself, or the icons on the monster icon. lol)
