Is the switchaxe good?

I don’t see many YouTube build videos featuring it. It seems pretty good. Or am I just in a noob phase..?

Its pretty good, but it gets ignored due to it not having shields or broken dodges;
Switch Axe is two seperate weapons merged into one: the much more mobile axe, and the heavy, hard hitting sword; Switch Axe heavily relies on learning how to use both forms, and how to use both forms together

it's best MAYLEE for status builds and that's it
I gotta be honest SA is pretty boring weapon overall
It has long range average/fast attack speed average/high dph no special moves aside from mounting discharge
and it's so noob friendly
like if you want something that hit hard and keep you on safe distance SA and LS is your choice
Maybe im overplayed SA but everytime im using it I just feel like I using LS without foresight slash and with slightly faster attack speed
so basically im monkey

Yeah ignore this guy, he's not that great with SA;
SA's specialty is it's morphing attacks, and is as noob friendly as other weapons in MHW;

It is a great weapon..when in blade mode the attack cannot be deflected , just need to be patient and wait for perfect opportunity to deliver the pain in blade mode. Most of the time i used flash to stun the monster so i can deliver the pain. It need a bit of get used too i am still learning it but i love it so far , break that diablos horn in a pinch if attack at perfect moment. Only downside is the dodging..

Remember to mix in Axe as well; while the axe isnt as strong as the sword, the axe allows for very quick repositioning, and as long as you dont hit an armored spot, you can do a lot of fast damage before transitioning into sword form

At the world champs which were similar run to Arenas all the top teams picked SA since it was a weapon that could deal with the most situations, most reliably and still deal damage.

The biggest thing with SA is about properly knowing your position and then using the switch attacks ti keep up that aggression.

2: Water is the best SA for pure raw atm due to having the highest pure raw; Jho only surprasses this if the monsters are severely weak to dragon element, as well as jho being easier to obtain that Kulve weapons; mathematically, Water WILL be stronger than Tyrannis unless the monster is weak to dragon; now, once Iceborne drops, Jho's will easily surprass it, but for right now, Water is stronger
3: Upon Googling, theres only one TA video that uses Ruin, which is Canta v Jho, but even then, idk why you brought this up
4: Hunting Tempered and ATs means nothing; Thats literally the point of the end game, thats how you get good decorations and armor; using health boosting skills shows you cant dodge properly or time slow animation attacks well; you have to take of the training wheels of needing extra HP ontop of the 150 you get from eating if you want to really try to flex on people

I'm not saying I'm that good? I'm pointing out the fact that HP Boost is essentially training wheels; especially when fighting ATs, the difference between 150HP and 200HP is extremely minimal; If it were much more of a dramatic difference, Vitality Mantles would be able to keep people alive during AT Teo or Luna's Novas, or AT Kush's black tornado
