Steam servers are down. there's multiple threads about it all over steam. There's status checking websites everywhere all over google. It's not just you.

I just restarted my pc as soon as I saw this comment. I was unable to connect to friends & chat and now I can't even open Steam. Good for me I guess.

Depends on where you are at. NA servers are up but other servers around the world are down. Restarted myself and it worked.

But why? If the servers are down how can there still be 19k ppl in game? I saw it in the community section.

Uhh, that's good for you I guess. I just tested it out because I don't really need online features at the moment. But I don't think most of people playing multiplayer games would be happy if this keeps happening especially on weekend.
