Can't install High Resolution Texture Pack

When I try to install the pack from Steam, it opens the game. When I try to install it from the game, it doesn't start. The game is not mine, it is being shared with me using Family Sharing.

What's happening is exactly what @DUDECEPTION is going through over here. I posted my thread there which might have a potential fix to your issue thanks to @DarkStarSword.

Basically what's happening is that Steam doesn't allow you to Family Share free DLC, only paid DLC for some reason. No idea why.

DUDECEPTION hasn't gotten around to trying out the potential fix yet, so no idea if it actually works for you or not man. Hope it does. And if you're so inclined, I would appreciate you contacting Steam support about this ridiculous restriction (if you haven't already) and maybe even sharing or posting on my thread. Whatever you feel comfortable doing. Just want something talking about this constantly, until hopefully Steam/Valve starts to care and removes it, as it shouldn't exist anyways.

Just wanted to post that according to DUDECEPTION, that fix doesn't seem to work unfortunately. Sorry man. Hopefully Steam/Capcom do something about this.

same issue. second time downloaded the pack. even forcing from gfx settings in local folder resets it. game doest even show i have steam installed on my pc but it is and its not fam share game. if anyone find solution for it in future please let me know. thanks.

It does open the game, then it should download it, which takes a bit of time because it's huge.

Right answer right here, this DLC pack requires a looooong time to download because its 29.3GB, check the bottom of the steam client to see the progress.

I dont understand your comments. when you go to library/Properties/DLC I can see the texture pack and it says NOT INSTALLED. but there is no way to make it install in library/Properties/DLC so why do you keep reposting this path? it doesnt solve anything

Usually you disable a dlc/ uninstall it that way, to install a texture pack you have to download it from the shop page, once downloaded it should be on by default, if not do what he said and see whether or not it's enabled. But as other mentioned it might not work if you play it through family share.

That's what all free DLC does. It launches the game and takes you into the menu to "redeem" it to your account or whatever. Then it should be available for you to use...probably. Check the options menu, it's under graphics settings, texture quality or something like that.

So long as it says "In Library" somewhere on the DLC page, then you should be able to do it, if not...then I dunno, lol. That's how it's always worked for me, anyway.

Currently going thru the same issue. I wonder if I bought monster hunter , downloaded the high resolution pack, and then refunded through steam that it would allow me to keep the high resolution when using my friends copy again?
