Can 1060 run the high texture pack?
I know the minimum requirement is 1080 but has anyone tried it before on a 1060?

After test with HD texture pack there is no notable difference on perfomance lol no stuttering or fps drop, The perfomance is the same like using "Full" texture, the game looks beautiful though.

The game takes 3,7 gb of my vram with Hd texture pack enabled.

nice! :cozyspaceengineersc:

I wouldn't suggest believing him. The 970 only has 3.5gb of effective vram. Anything past that is... problematic.

If he's hitting 3.7, there's no way his performance is smooth.

I have GTX 980 (4GB), high res textures enabled in the game, but I'm not sure if they are actually working or not because I didn't really see the difference (didn't compare frame to frame though) and performance-wise it's the same as well. Maybe highres textures are not even active if you have insufficient VRAM?

before i bought my current 2080ti i had a 980 and you can use/play games that requires 8GB of vram, and i know because i used to play titan fall 2 on insane, doom on nightmare with the bypass, and others, but your system ram usage will go higher, that card doesn't have the issue of the 970 that when hitting the 3.5gb limit your performance will drop like mad, is a 4GB card but it's a great card despite others can say.

I'm currently downloading the pack so i can't say if i can notice a difference. But these packs have some differences, the things is hardly noticeable in gameplay, you need to compare static screenshots.

5.47gb out of 5.91gb VRAM used according to the game.

Honestly could not tell the difference. Certain parts of the Anceient Forest were smoother though. The load times were a bit longer.
your PC specs is quite similar to mine, maybe i should download the texture pack and see for myself

Check out my gameplay and decide..

*add 1-2 fps for final fps result cuz i recorded it with nvidia shadowplay and ignore that 1-2 fps dibs if you see it, that little sttuter is from the game,it affects my game and it has been there since kulve tarroth update few months ago. Even without hi res texture the little stutter can happen. Even if the game at the lowest setting too.

Playing game at almost vram full memory doesnt always give you a bad perfomance, it depends on the game itself. for example :
I played COD advance warfare on a maxed setting and the game takes 3.9 GB of vram, but the game still runs smooth 60 fps no stutter until the end with my gtx 970.
And then i tried Far cry New dawn with HD texture enabled and it gives me stutter every 5 second even with 30 fps locked.

It's active, you can immediately notice on character selection screen. The character is more detailed.
or take a look at chain mail armor in blacksmith. i have the comparison here :

No hi res texture (texture quality "Full") :

Constantly dropping below 60fps is not smooth.

You've overloaded the vram and are getting caching stutters. If you consider that smooth, there's a whole world of consoles out there you can play.

Please read the note about that little stutter on the video man.

As long im not experiencing a constant big stuttering, its playable even with max vram.
problem?

Playable and smooth are not the same thing. You're arguing it's still playable. I'm not denying that.

What I'm saying is it isn't smooth. Learn the difference.

Yes, you will be fine - but I would prioritize FPS in the settings.

Smooth FPS is 60+, or if you have a nice monitor that isn't capped at 60 I would shoot for even higher, 80+ is smooth imo. You will never notice the difference until you play at 60 fps and then double that. It's miniscule but yes, you eyes will see the difference.

My god just read the note :lunar2019laughingpig:
If you've read it, you must know why my game is not smooth as you said right? and maybe we don't even have to arguing about this if you read the note. :lunar2019laughingpig:

so the base game at max settings was registering the use of 5 GB of my VRAM, high res pack took it to 6GB. so if your card doesnt have 6GB minimum of VRAM, your gonna have a bad time trying to use this 30GB free DLC.

1060 6GB Windforce OC version.
i5 9600K non OC'd boosting to approx 4.7 during gameplay.
32GB 3000Mhz ram

Works perfectly on high res mode, using NZXT cam overlay to monitor settings, almost entirely at a steady 60fps at 1080p. Seen it using from about 4gb to almost max Vram, as high as 15gb system ram usage as well.

Played a few hunts online and getting consistent frame rates, so it definitely works well on a 1060 6GB.
