Master's touch is just glorified Razor Sharp
People keep calling it meta. I keep getting crits. My sharpness still goes down...

It doesn't even proc with moves like the helm breaker. This set is a fake meta. It just doesn't live up to it's name.

you're not critting if you're losing sharpness with master's touch. it works

If you are losing sharpness when you crit then you don't have master's touch.

Can helmbreaker even crit?

Not all Orange numbers are crits.

Edit: Because Weaknes exploit does not trigger because orange is not always a weak point.

I use it on SnS. I stay in white sharpness the whole quest, often at max.

A crit is shown with a large red slash line where you've hit and a sound if done right.

For the skill to be useful you need a build that has very high affinity. If it is going down, you aren't critting.

orange numbers are not crits. They do not signify that you have done a crit. The orange numbers barely mean anything useful.

I though crit is indicated with a red slash, sound, yellow text and a star under the number

The numbers are misleading though. You can get orange numbers without crits, just by hitting weak spots.
Likewise, you can get crits without hitting weak spots. You can get a crit anywhere, and it won't be orange.
I advise to ignore the numbers and look for the slash.

Edit, i thought I should clarify.
The star indicates crit.
Orange numbers aren't related to crits at all.

It doesn't matter what colour the number is, only the star below it. The star is what signifies a critical hit. At 100% affinity you can crit on stale spots of a monster and you'll see a star below the damage number meaning it crit.
