Hornetaur Armor?

Is it worth it to craft the hornetaur chest piece just to traverse the Rotten Vale in peace? Is it absolute total immunity to the gas?
I realize a bunch of these one trick pony pieces have lousy defense to compensate, but I honestly have had little trouble playing the mix and match game and suffering a defense hit just to get a particular skill. Hell I even mixed the butterfly helm(which made me look like Lady Gaga) with my pumpkin armor one time and was called "kinky". Not sure what to make of that. LOL.

Right at the camps there's some red stones that set the ground on fire
use those to dissipate the gas

I had been using those until I got the optional quest to kill hornetaurs, but they are limited and burn out. It's not like the gas damage is extreme, but it is super annoying.

Yeah it was at the beginning for me aswell
tho now with life steal i dont even bother with it lol

Or you could use the Girros pieces which give you purification and (if maxed) completly negates the effects of the gas.

Yeck. Girros. I'll put it on the shopping list. I think I've killed a few of the smaller guys already.
