Why does CPU temps reach 76 Celsius on Iceborne?
Build is Ryzen 5 2600
GTX 1660
16GB RAM

I enabled DX12 on settings on some accounts that it improves the occasional freeze/lag during fights. It was fine for a while till temps reach 76 degrees Celsius in just Seliana area. During fights, it stays at a 75 degrees.

Is there a driver or settings I should be aware of ? No other game that I know of has this much pressure on the CPU

because it uses your CPU a lot.

and the CPU runs on electricity, and when you run a lot of electricity through a CPU it gets hot.

now if you said your CPU is getting up to 85c or 90c i'd say you have a cooling problem. 76c is fine. mine gets to 85c when my cooling radiator is ditry and needs blown out.

Because the game self CRC checks itself like mad and by default is a 32 thread cluster ♥♥♥♥ of an operation, which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane and no coding genius in their right mind can optimize for.

Basically ♥♥♥♥ drm + ♥♥♥♥ optimization = your CPU gets fried.

There is no excuse for this trash. Needs fixing asap.

You have no idea what temp your actual cpu is at then since reporting software is completely wrong 90% of the time. Go check out GN's recent pieces on the topic.

Consider getting an aftermarket CPU cooler?
Seriously, all OEM ones are trash. As 70+ to 87C are common amongst OEM heatsinks.

You don't have to shop for a super expensive one.
Anything with Heat pipe design should be able to bring the temperature down below 60C.
E.g ARCTIC Freezer 12, ARCTIC Freezer 34, Cooler Master Hyper H411R

Or even some cheap Chinese stuffs from Aliexpress:

Decent choice for price/performance. Though you might need a $5 mounting kit. I don't think they ever included an AM4 bracket in the base package.

Only real issue is it's tall as ♥♥♥♥ so you need to be aware of that in relation to the side of your case.

you are not the only one
since iceborne update my CPU always at 90-100% and i literally put a desk fan right beside my CPU and open the chasing to cool it down but still at 60 degree to 70 degree
Endarion Mar 15, 2020 @ 10:49am
using a ryzen 7 2700x worst spike i reached was 63°C
when you talking about temps you should also say what's your cpu cooler tho

Coz it's a icey hot game

Because you have a TERRIBLE CPU cooler and you don't have good airflow in your PC case. How many intake and exhaust fans you have? You need at least 2 pulling air and 2 pushing out of the case.

My system is a Ryzen 5 2600 and a 1060, right now is 30ºC where i live and my CPU won't go past 50ºC and GPU won't go past 55ºC.

Or you could just get one that comes with an AM4 bracket.

Same thing, $4 cheaper as of this writing.

I just went with the first 212 evo that popped up in google as a suggestion.
