Guiding Lands: A Simplified Discussion of What to Level
In guiding lands, location determines if a lure tempered or not. This means picking the focus of your guiding lands will essentially determine what materials you have immediate access to. With that, I've listed what monsters spawn tempered uniquely in one location, thus requiring a lvl 7 version of that land, for those materials to be available. I've also listed if they can be melded or not, in case you just need the material but are not willing to put in the work. I chose Tempered Crownhorn because Velkhana is the most farmed elder dragon in GL and also the most generous with her melding fodder.

Ancient Forest- Can be Ignored
Ancient Forest- (1 elder dragon, 2 unique spawns but the drops are meldable)
Scarred Garuga- Tempered Silverpelt - R11 Health Augment lvl1 (meldable, crownhorn)
Kadachi- Tempered Cathode - R10 Affinity Augment lvl3 (meldable, crownhorn)

Wildspire- (4 unique spawns, 2 elder dragons, avoid unless you're running elemental heavy sets (bow, dagger, elem CB, SA, etc)
Gold Rathian- Tempered Gold Scale- R12 Element Attack lvl3 (unmeldable)
Black Diablos- Blackcurl Temperhorn- R12 Slot Augment lvl1 (meldable, crownhorn)
Diablos- Twisted Temperhorn- R10 Attack Augment lvl2 (meldable, crownhorn)
Barroth- Tempered Crown- R11 Defense Augment lvl4 (meldable, crownhorn)

Rotten- (1 Elder Dragon, optional: Vaal Hazak Mod+)
Brutal Tigrex- Tempered Ebonjaw- Weapons (meldable, crownhorn)
Vaal Hazak- Tempered Twilight Fang- R10 Health Augment lvl3, Vaal Hazak Mod+ affinity lvl 6 (unmeldable)
Acidic Glavenus- Tempered Tailblade- R10 Health Augment lvl2, (meldable, crownhorn)
Radobaan- Tempered Oilshell- R12 Element Augment lvl1 (meldable, crownhorn)

Coral- (4 unique spawns, essential for various useful lvl 12 augments, all unobtainable vial melder. )
Silver Rathalos- Tempered Silver Scale- R12 Attack Augment lvl2, R12 Health Augment lvl2, R10 Health Augment lvl4 (unmeldable)
Namielle- Tempered Trancehide- R12 Health Augment lvl1 (unmeldable)
Kirin- Tempered Azure Horn- R10 Element Augment lvl 4 (unmeldable)
Paolumu- Tempered Rubbery Shell- Guardian Charm III (meldable, crownhorn)

Lava- (4 unique spawns, 3 elder dragons, essential)
Rajang- Tempered Glimmerpelt- Slot II Augment all weapons, (unmeldable)
Seething Bazel- Tempered Blastscale- R11 Affinity Augment lvl4, R12 Health Augment lvl2 (unmeldable)
Brachydios- R11 Slot Augment lvl 2, Tempered Ebonshell- Brachydios Mod+ attack lvl6 (meldable)
Uragaan- Tempered Scute- R11 Slot Augment lvl2, Uragaan Mod+ element lvl 6 (meldable)
Lavasioth- Tempered Magmafin- R11 Affinity Augment lvl3 (meldable)

Tundra- (required for endgame augments and GSV farming)
Barioth- Tempered Icefang- R10 Slot III, R11 Affinity Augment lvl4, R12 Affinity lvl3 (meldable, crownhorn)
Viper Kadachi- Tempered Viperthorn- R11 Slot IV (meldable crownhorn)
Tempered Shrieking- Tempered Frosthide- R11 Slot III, RIII Attack Augment lvl3
Stygian Zinogre- Tempered Dragonhold- R11 Attack Augment lvl3, R11 Affinity lvl4, R11 Element Augment lvl 4, R12 Slot III (no data)
*Ruiner Nergigante- Annihilatiing Temperhorn- R10 Slot III, R11 Slot III, R11 Health Augment lvl3, R11 Element Augment lvl4, R12 Slot III, R12 Affinity Augment lvl3

It does appear that the most useful regions are Lava and Tundra, the former for its sheer amount of lure options and the latter for the endgame content. Coral places third for having 2 unique elder dragon spawns.

Updated II:

*Confirmed, Nergigante has a chance to spawn tempered in other regions but a guaranteed tempered spawn only happens in Tundra, which means I had to repost Nergi on Tundra. This makes Tundra a requirement for anyone and everyone who wants to farm MR, GSV, endgame augment mats, etc essentially, anything endgame. Nergi is a fairly safe alternative to Velk, the game is very generous with Nergi lures as well, (and Velk now for some reason) meaning it's fairly easy to churn these out in 10-15 minute intervals if you exploit sleep slams for drops or just 4 randoms wailing at it. Nergi has no elemental attacks which means the your armor's elemental weakness doesn't matter (unlike Velk who can 1 shot some builds)

i hope capcom will remove the stupid level cap soon.

Very interesting breakdown. Thank you. I tend to agree with Cruste in that I hope they remove the level cap. It seems to just be there to make IB more grindy.

I'm not native language so maybe can't understand correctly...

The monsters that you mention is the unique region spawn? In this case something is wrong because

Zinogre spawns also in Coral region
Gold&Silver spawns also in Vulcanic region
Legiana spwans also in Tundra region
Nergigante spawns everywhere also in tempered version.

Complete exclusive region list (obviusly some monsters aren't usefull for augmentation):
FOREST: Yian Garuga, Rathian, Nargacuga, Gran Jagras, Tobi Kadachi
WILDSPIRE: Diablos, Black Diablos, KuluYaKu, Barroth
CORLA: Paolumu, Coral Pukei Pukei, TzitziYaKu, Kirin, Namielle
ROTTEN: Brute Tigrex, Gran Girros, Acide Glavenus, Radoban, BV Vaal Hazak
VULCANIC: Seething Bazelgeuse, Lavasioth, Dodogama, Brachydios, Uragaan
TUNDRA: Barioth, Shrieking Legiana, Viper Tobi Kadachi, Stygian Zinogre

"Unique" means you can only get the tempered versions of these monsters on these regions. I will emphasize this: You can summon regular versions of monsters irregardless of level. To gain access to tempered versions you need the appropriate level. This is what the list is for.

Gold and Silver can be summoned on either regions but only appear tempered in their original habitats respectively. Tundra wasn't out yet when i made the list so obviously I wouldn't know about the Legiana. I was actually unsure about Stygian Zinogre, as it sounded like a monster that spawns in Rotten.

If the material is meldable I indicated so, and gave the Velkhana Crownhorn as an example for meld material because the it is extremely common and easy to farm.

Nergigante can also be summoned anywhere, but only appears tempered in Tundra, same for Rajang and Volcanic. I'm told this is also true for Zinogre and Ancient forest but I've had mixed results.

Being able to summon them doesn't make it unique, them being tempred does since you only level up lands to gain access to the tempered monsters.

This was a guide I wrote for myself and my friends when we were deciding which regions were assigned to which people, going pro's and con's. I had to check which mats could be melded (so there were other sources of the materials they dropped)

I casually found a list some times ago with GL spawns based on console version, confimed also on fextralife and fandom. Gold&Silver can spawn tempered in volcanic region (I sure that I summoned one temp gold in that region), and tempred nergigante can spawn everywhere (but I don't test by myself, later I will try...

I say it only to be more accurate we can to avoid misunderstanding, and if I am wrong please correct me :)

I dunno man, the handbook says regular ones for gold and silver on lava. It does say nergi spawns everywhere tempered as long as the land is maxed, so I got that wrong. I my defense, temp nergi wasn't out when i wrote this list.

Thanks for the list, good stuff!!
Any idea which areas i should be focussing for IG augments ?
Started the gl a few days ago.

Tundra's pretty much required for everyone as well as Lava because of the sheer amount of unmeldables and tempered lure options. For third you could run with Coral (namielle for health augment) if you want to run peak for your sets. Coral also has silverlos and kirins as well as tempered zinogre since you'll be ignoring forest.

As for your spare (lvl4) the only viable one seems to be forest (lvl 4, tempered kadachi), and rotten veil (tempered radobaan)

Is it true Ruiner Nergigante only appears in his Tempered form if lured to Tundra 7? That seems a bit of a cop out by Capcom considering he can spawn everywhere, and he didn't really have much to do with Hoarfrost Reach in the story either.

Thank you. I have no lures for the chap at the moment, and I couldn't test.

Luring a tempered nergi is possible at any region that's been maxed.

a ruiner nergigante will always be tempered in tundra level7 but if he spawns in another region he can be noral or tempered , it's random.

also, remenber that Velkanah dosen't spawn in volcano region.
